Drifters win No. Neck District Scholastic Bowl

Drifter kids are smart — in fact they now hold the district title for scholastics. On Wednesday, Jan. 12, during high school academic competition, Colonial Beach defeated Washington & Lee 185-95 to win the Northern Neck District (NND) Scholastic Bowl Tournament.
On Saturday, Feb. 5, at 10 a.m., at Colonial Beach High School, the Drifters will represent the NND as the No. 1 seed, while Rappahannock, who defeated Lancaster 200-95, will be seeded second at the Region A Scholastic Bow Tournament.
Individual honorees for the tournament included the following students: First team – Anne Self (W&L), Caleb Gallagher (RHS), Jeremiah Brown (CBHS) and Tierney Mays (CBHS). Second team – Emma Hollowell (LHS), Will Perkins (LHS), Brad Daiger (W&L) and Andrea Walker (RHS). Co-coaches of the year are Vick Favazza (EHS) and Veronica Reynolds (CBHS).
