Drifters take 1st place at annual Theatre Festival

On Monday, Nov. 1, the Northern Neck held its annual Theatre Festival involving Colonial Beach, Northumberland and Washington & Lee High Schools.  The event was held at Northumberland High School in their beautiful state-of-the-art auditorium.  The Drifters claimed their first ever District title in Theatre, edging out W&L’s performance of “Hamlette”

The Drifters performed “13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview,” a play written by Ian McWethy.  The play is set up as 13 miniature vignettes that show the audience anything that could possibly go wrong during a college interview.  From a practicing vampire to a bipolar psychotic, each scene is full of hilarity and wonderful characters.  The play was directed by Northern Neck Coach of the Year Danny McNamara.
The cast members for “13 Ways…” included Tierney Mays, Cassie Downey, Christian Tinsley, Erica Willford, Logan Sandy, Nicole Rector, Jeremiah Brown, Paige Trivett, Jacob Hoffmaster, Lexi Brandon, Danielle Galloway, Jonvincent Callirgos and Emily Camlin.
Several Drifters were awarded with acting awards and named to the All District Team —Lexi Brandon, Danielle Galloway, Tierney Mays, and Paige Trivett.  For the second year in a row, Paige Trivett was awarded the Best Actress of the District.  With this exciting win, the Drifters, along with the Eagles of W&L, will travel to Nandua on Nov. 20 for the Regional Theatre Festival.
