Armed robbery at the 7-Eleven

Colonial Beach Police responded on scene at the 7-Eleven in reference to a 911 call for robbery  at 11:45 p.m. on the evening of March 7.

Police were on scene within a minute, according to Interim Police Chief William Seay.

Seay reported that two unknown suspects entered the 7-Eleven and managed to grab a cash drawer with approximately $80 to $85 and fled the store.

According to the clerk, the suspects were carrying a weapon and ordered the clerk to get on the ground upon entry.

The suspects fled the store on foot turning toward Jackson Street. A King George K-9 unit was brought in to circle the block but found nothing.

Heavy police presence surrounded the store for several hours while the staff was questioned and surveillance tapes reviewed.

Colonial Beach Fire Department was called in around 1:30 a.m. for unknown reasons, but was put back into service within minutes of arriving.

It was reported that no one was hurt during the event.

Colonial Beach Police Department is in charge of the ongoing investigation. Westmoreland and King George County Sheriff’s departments as well as the Virginia State Police assisted.
