62nd Annual Potomac River Festival

The 62nd Annual Potomac River Festival went off this past weekend with some bad weather. The Firemen’s Parade had to be postponed because of the heavy rain on Friday night and instead was included in the Grand Parade on Saturday. The annual beauty pageant took place on Saturday as well. The Colonial Beach

Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary did a wonderful job with the event. Nikki Craig, Yesenia Modonado, Jessica Robey and Bridget Robinson all participated. The new 2013 Miss Colonial Beach is 20130612cb2Courtney Aclan, sponsored by Ledo Pizza. First Runner Up and Miss Photogenic with to Kaitlyn Proffitt, sponsored by the Foster Family and Second Runner Up went to Samantha Roberts.
Saturday started off with quite a bit of rain, postponing the grand parade for an hour. It didn’t stop the crowds from coming out and enjoying the festival weekend.

There was plenty of food for sale, and crafters were there too, selling their wares. Torrey Smith, wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens was the Grand Marshal on Saturday. The carnival went all weekend and folks trampled through the mud so they could enjoy the rides and games.
20130612cb3Sunday was the Boat Parade with grand marshals the Niningers, from Shady Lane Seafood in the Potomac River Bounty.
