Kennedy resigns, CB council calls special meeting

Town Council has called a special meeting for Wednesday, March 23, at 4:30 p.m.  It is expected that council members will discuss the resignation of Steve Kennedy, which is reported to have been tendered to Town Manager Val Foulds earlier this week.

When reached for comment, Foulds said she wishes “to reserve comment until the special meeting.”  Kennedy, who has served six years on council and chairs the Economic Development Committee, is often at the forefront of discussions on bringing revenue into town by creating a more business- and resident-friendly place to live and shop. Kennedy has recently spoken out in favor of bringing a YMCA to town and has taken steps to ascertain interest from the Rappahannock Area YMCA.

It is not clear how council will fill Kennedy’s seat on council.  More details will be provided on The Journal’s website, www.journalpress.com, Wednesday evening.
