During a request for public comments, the town heard light opposition to a proposal to renovate the old Klotz building to offer a home to pregnant woman in need. After co-founder Randy James spoke to the crowd, the audience showed support with loud applause.
Colonial Beach Town Council has been approached by Randy James to lease the old Klotz building located at 6 North Irving Ave., next to the old police department.

“The mission is simply to fight for the freedoms here at home, that we fought for overseas and to bring issues to people that the government is not talking about,” Pete Hegseth, CEO of Concerned Veterans for America, said.
A group of highly decorated military veterans and wives have embarked on a ten day tour through the east coast states beginning here in Virginia, then heading to North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and ending in Ohio.

The Colonial Beach Planning Commission has reviewed proposed changes to the town’s sign ordinance in Article 12 of the building and zoning regulations. A public hearing on the matter is set for Nov 1. The proposed changes came about after several complaints were filed against various business owners for electronic/digital signs, neon signs and waving banners. Affected businesses added other signage to match other businesses creating what some residents referred to as the “sign wars”.

Donald Ray Warner, Sr., 74 of Woodstock, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 at home after a 12 year battle with cancer.
Dr. Warner was born in Woodstock on Nov. 22, 1937, son of the late Gabriel and Sylva Heavener Warner. He was a former member of the United Methodist Churches in Woodstock and Colonial Beach and was presently a member of the Columbia Furnace Church of the Brethren.

Colonial Beach has been awarded a $10,000 Mixed Use and Mixed Income Planning Grant from the Virginia Housing Development Authority.
The purpose of the grant is to assist funding for localities to create a set of development guidelines for mixed use properties (combined residential and business) and mixed income housing as well as other developments within the target areas.
Parcels being affected will be town and privately owned, but the guidelines will only be suggestions and will not be enforced by law.
