Baker pleads ‘No Contest’ to brutal Beach Gate murder

A Maryland man has entered a plea of no contest to a charge of First Degree Murder in connection to the brutal slaying of a woman at the Beach Gate Motel in Colonial Beach on Oct. 3, 2012.

Elizabeth “Niecey” Thompson was beaten, stabbed 46 times and left lying in her nightgown in a pool of blood in the motel parking lot. Pleading no contest to the crime was William Baker, 49, of Indian Head, Md.,

8 year old hit by car on Rt. 205 near Colonial Beach

A Fredericksburg boy was injured with non-life threatening injuries last Wednesday after being struck by a King George driver.


Sergeant Thomas Molnar of the Virginia State Police reported that shortly after 5 p.m on June 19, Virginia State Police were called to the scene of a vehicle crash on State Route 205 on the Tides Mill Bridge  just past Wilkerson's restaurant in Westmoreland County.

Baker pleads No Contest to Beach Gate murder

  A Maryland man has entered a plea of no contest to a charge of first degree murder in connection to the brutal slaying of a woman at the Beach Gate Motel in Colonial Beach on Oct. 3, 2012.

Colonial Beach Blues Festival is this weekend

The popular Colonial Beach Blues Festival, one of the top events at the beach each year, will be held this weekend featuring the legendary Bobby Messano, The Nighthawks and more than a dozen other blues performers.

The festival is sponsored by The Colonial Beach Blues Society, High Tides on the Potomac Restaurant and others to support autism research. The festival will begin this Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at noon at The Black Pearl Tiki Bar on the beach.

62nd Annual Potomac River Festival

The 62nd Annual Potomac River Festival went off this past weekend with some bad weather. The Firemen’s Parade had to be postponed because of the heavy rain on Friday night and instead was included in the Grand Parade on Saturday. The annual beauty pageant took place on Saturday as well.
