Fishing was good until we got hammered by the downpour. That changed the rivers dramatically and then the ponds saw the influx of water as well. The river was still high as of press time. Hunting seemed to be poorer this past week as well.
The Rappahannock River was in bad shape over the weekend.
Ken’s Tackle reported continued good shad fishing near Falmouth before the rain hit. Bass went on the beds and were moody. Catfish were hitting well on cutbait.
Aqua Land reported some catfish hitting on nightcrawlers and cutbait. Winter Harbor had no report.
Motts Run reported lots of boats out but the water level changed. Their Kids’ Fishing Day is June 8. Registration is from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Plenty of prizes and food. They could really use some volunteers. Call 786-8989 to help out.
Chris Craft, professional guide, is switching over to bass now but he is still seeing crappie hitting in the lake. The bass are on the beds and coming off the beds. Check it out at http://www.ccbassnlakeanna.blogspot.com/
Anecdotal reports show gobbling activity slowing way down as of last week. Of course that can be spotty. Troy Clift took a bird this past weekend!
