Fishing continues to be quite good. It is too bad we are all so busy we are not able to enjoy it as we would like. Hunting continues to be slow for deer from reports we have heard. There are still a LOT of acorns in the woods and deer don’t have to move much to feed. However, scrapes and rubs are appearing and I received a few reports of bucks chasing does. It is early but…
Aqualand (301-259-0572) reported great perch action. Fish are 10-12 inches in length. Bluefish (big surprise) are around and a bit more than pan size. It has been a fruitful fall for fishing. Some puppy drum are still around and many are keeper size. The rockfish have been too small and a serious disappointment over the past week. Catfish are all over and hitting anything.
Ken’s Tackle (540-898-1011) reported horrible fishing at the City Dock but further down towards Little Falls the fishing is pretty good. Crappie are hitting nightcrawlers and minnows. Ring perch are hitting well too. Bass are taking cranks very well. Bream are hitting quite well on nightcrawlers too.
Motts Run Reservoir (540-786-8989) reported nice stringers of catfish on chicken liver. Some very nice bream are hitting too. Next week is the last week at Motts till spring. Lake Anna—Fishing for crappie is really quite good now. I have been in chats with Dave Faunteleroy at Anna Point. http://www.ccbassnlakeanna.blogspot.com/
Captain Ryan Rogers (804-580-0245) reports good chumming for rockfish. He has also been catching some super bluefish. Several trips have caught a good mix of fish. Get in on the action before it slips away for blues!
Specks are still hitting further south in marshes and inlets near Virginia Beach. Croaker and spot are also still hitting further south of us near Virginia Beach. Get in on the action before it is gone for the year!
