YMCA Healthy Kids Day

The King George YMCA held its annual Healthy Kids Day event Saturday. In addition to providing activities for kids and their families and health information, the event included the ribbon cutting for the new playground at the Y. The goal is to get kids and their families to be active. And they were. As soon as the ribbon was cut kids dash for the playground and put it to good use.

While the kids were outside, the Potomac Elementary School African Drum Ensemble was performing in the gym. Giva Conner, PES music teacher, said the group is made up of 6th graders. Their instruments were provided by the school PTA.
