Local 4-H’ers place at state horse show

Thursday, Sept. 16 the King George 4-H’ers packed their bags and horses and headed down to Lexington, Va., on their way to compete in the biggest show of the season: the 4-H State Horse Show. The King George 4-H Horse and Pony Club sent nine girls and nine horses/ponies down there: Elizabeth Hill with Blonde By Design, Ashley Acraman with Miss Kitty, Jenna Sisson with Ruby, Aidan Phillips with Ms. An’s Last Dance, Kellen Phillips with Peppi Sli Fly, Kim Poates with Painted Jake,

Stephanie Campbell with Zippo’s Red Reward, Amanda Acraman with Pleasure Attack, and Katie Johnson with Kentuckee Blonde.
Starting with Junior Horse Senior Rider Western Pleasure, Katie Johnson riding Kentuckee Blonde got seventh place; Stephanie Campbell on Zippo’s Red Reward got sixth. In Junior Large Pony, Elizabeth Hill with Blonde By Design got third place, Ashley Acraman on Miss Kitty got fourth, Aidan Phillips on Jenna Sisson on her pony Ruby got seventh.
Moving onto Working Western Senior Class we have Stephanie Campbell with Reserve. In Junior, Elizabeth Hill got fifth place, Jenna Sisson got sixth, and Ashley Acraman got ninth.
Now that we’re onto Trail Senior Class, Kim Poates got first and Senior Western Trail Champion! In Junior Trail Jenna Sisson got fifth place and Ashley Acraman eighth.
We did pretty well in Horsemanship as well. In the Senior Class, Zippo’s Red Reward and Stephanie Campbell got ninth. In Senior (ages 14-15), Kellen Phillips got Reserve. In Junior Horse Katie got seventh place, and in Junior Pony Ashley got sixth, Aidan got seventh, Elizabeth got eighth and Jenna got ninth.
Moving onto the speed events, we had just one contestant from our club: Kellen Phillips with Peppi Sli Fly. In Senior Barrels, she got seventh place with a time of 20.25. In Pole bending, she got a time of 38.584 and in keyhole she got fifth place with a time of 11.406.
Now that we’re at classics, let me just say that getting there is an accomplishment in itself. We sent four girls and ponies, and two girls with horses. In Western Pleasure Senior Horse, Stephanie Campbell participated and in Western Pleasure Junior Horse, Katie Johnson was involved in the Junior/Senior Pony Western Pleasure Classic, Aidan Phillips got fifth place, Elizabeth Hill got sixth place, Ashley Acraman got eighth place and Jenna Sisson got ninth place.
