Trustee appointed to take possession of Meadow-Brooke Memorial Park
A hearing was held in the United States Bankruptcy Court in Richmond on Tuesday, October 19 on the Stonecrest Financial, Inc. bankruptcy filing by Robert R. Crouch. Stonecrest Financial operates Meadow-Brooke Memorial Park in King George. After testimony by Herbert Nichols, investigator for the state Cemetery Board and questioning by Crouch who was acting as his own representative, Chief Judge Tice changed Stonecrest Financial, Inc.’s bankruptcy filing from a Chapter 11 reorganization to a Chapter 7 dissolution. Further, Tice appointed a trustee to take possession of the cemetery so that it will be safely managed.
Ruth Herrink, noteholder of several secured notes involving the cemetery and the property next to it, said, “We are hoping that the Bankruptcy court will now allow us to foreclose on our notes so that we can begin to secure the cemetery and the people who have made it a part of their lives for so many years.”
