King George After Prom Party 2010

“A Cruise to Remember…” was the theme of the 2010 After Prom Party sponsored by the King George High School PTSA held Saturday, May 8, at KGHS. The party for KGHS juniors and seniors, and their invited guests,is a tradition that gives the students a safe, drug and alcohol free venue to celebrate prom night.

This year’s extravagant party featured hypnotist Jason Linett, who entertained the crowd in the early morning hours, in addition to the many other activities available throughout the night.  Students could enjoy the Surf Rider, Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course, Bungee Basketball, climb the Rock Slide, win prizes and money in the Cash Machine, have fun with the carnival games, play bingo, try their hand in the casino, have their photo taken by Larry Stone or a caricature done by Phil McKenney, listen to bands“Who Took Fred” and “Toxic Drop Kick,” enter the 3-on-3 basketball tournament(trophies donated by L.R. Reynolds Engraving & Signs), eat great food (LaPlata Outback Steakhouse donated appetizers, Carrabba’s in Fredericksburg donated snacks, Exit Realty sponsored the cotton candy and popcorn machines, pizzas & other treats were donated by many local restaurants and individuals), and win fabulous prizes!  Hannah Pierce won the King George Builder’s Association $500 scholarship grand prize for seniors.  Lea Gray won the $250 KGHS PTSA sponsored junior grand prize.

Many remarkable people, businesses, and organizations madethe party possible.  A special thanks to Larry W. Stone Photography fordonating his time and talent to the event and giving every party attendee the chance to receive a complimentary photo, Game Stop for donating the use of several Xbox 360 game systems and games for the event, Foote Title for contributing the backpacks that every student entering the party received, NSWC Federal Credit Union for donating the use of the Cash Machine, GKG Amusements for donating the use of the slot machines, King George Parks & Recreation for sponsoring bingo, the Dahlgren WaWa employees who volunteered as chaperones, and the After Prom Party Committee who worked endless hours on making this year’s party a big success!
