New KG officials sworn in, ready to go

Chairmen, meeting dates to be decided in early January

Officials elected in November in King George are sworn in and ready to go.
Last week, Clerk of the Circuit Court Vic Mason administered the oath of office for each of the four local elected officials.

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Incumbent Cedell Brooks, Jr., took the oath, which will provide him with a sixth term to add to his five terms he will have completed as of the end of this month.
Brooks is the most senior member of the Board of Supervisors, having been first elected to the Board in 1991.
John P. LoBuglio took the oath as the newest member of the Board of Supervisors. LoBuglio was elected to represent the James Monroe district, having defeated incumbent Jim Howard in November.
The King George Board of Supervisors will hold its organizational meeting Tuesday, Jan. 5, beginning at 6 p.m.
The first order of business will be election of a chairman for the calendar year, followed by election of a vice chairman.
They will also adopt a calendar of meeting dates for the year, which are expected to continue to be on the first and third Tuesdays of most months.
The board will also adopt its rules of procedure and then it is expected to be followed by its regular business meeting.

SCHOOL BOARD
Rick A. Randall, representing the James Monroe district, and Mike Rose, representing Shiloh, also took their oaths of office to prepare them to take their seats in January.
Randall is replacing Payne Kilbourn and Rose is taking over the seat that has been held by Sherrie Allwine.
Neither of the two incumbents had run for reelection.
The School Board’s organizational meeting is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 4, at 6 p.m.
In addition to electing a chairman and vice chairman, the School Board is also scheduled to adopt its meeting dates for the calendar year.
At its last meeting on Dec. 9, the School Board put out the word that it is considering changing its meeting day from the second and fourth Wednesdays of most months.
An alternate proposal was posted in the meeting packet indicating that there had been a request to change meeting days to Mondays.
The alternate proposal indicated that it is under consideration for the School Board to switch from Wednesday meetings to instead meet on the second and fourth Mondays.
That decision is expected to be made when they meet on Jan. 4.
The School Board is also slated to take action to make various other appointments and committee assignments at its organization meeting, which is expected to be brief.
