A busy month of upcoming meetings and governmental events

March is shaping up to be a busy month for scheduling King George governmental-related events.  Such upcoming meetings are listed below in chronological order. The list does not include the regular monthly meetings of various county boards, commissions or committees.

Walnut Hill rezoning request scheduled for hearing

The King George Board of Supervisors is currently scheduled to hold a public hearing and review of a rezoning request on March 18 for a 6.75-acre site on US 301 (James Madison Pkwy) in Dahlgren adjacent to the Bayberry subdivision.

King George gets financial ratings upgrade to ‘AA’

The King George Board of Supervisors got good news last week from Travis Quesenberry, county administrator, who informed them the financial rating agency Fitch Ratings has upgraded the county’s bond rating.

County and school officials to talk budget next week

The King George Board of Supervisors has set a second budget work session for next Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 5:30 p.m., scheduled in the board room of the Revercomb Administration building.

The King George Board of Supervisors met this week for its first budget meeting to discuss its general process for proceeding with upcoming fiscal decisions for 2014-15.

Fracking issues on the agenda

Drilling for natural gas and oil is being discussed by the King George Board of Supervisors, with one report last week and more on the way to get the governing body up to speed on just what authority is provided under state law to regulate gas and oil drillers, should permit applications be received for any for drilling in the county.

VDOT Dahlgren Road study could add two traffic lights

The King George Board of Supervisors received a report on a study conducted along Dahlgren Road (Route 206). Results of the study indicate that two intersections have met warrants for construction of traffic lights.

Grzeika unanimously elected Board chairman

The King George Board of Supervisors elected Joe Grzeika as chairman for 2014 on a unanimous vote at last week’s meeting on Jan. 7. Grzeika took over the gavel from Dale Sisson, At-Large rep, who was chairman last year for 2013.
