Spotsylvania man arrested for March shootings in Dahlgren

The King George County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Spotsylvania man in connection with a double shooting at the China Garden Restaurant in Dahlgren on March 9 that wounded two King George men.

Andre Dominique Major-Purdie, 21, was arrested by sheriff’s officers after a lengthy investigation and is being held in the Rappahannock Regional Jail.  Major-Purdie is charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony.

“Our office was committed and remains committed in identifying the shooter and bringing this case to closure,” said King George Sheriff Steve Dempsey.

Two King George men, ages 18 and 24, received non-life threatening injuries in the shootings which occurred when a private party at the Dahlgren restaurant turned into a fight that spilled out into the parking lot.

There were as many as 100 people at the party, and many of them were outside at the time of the shootings. However, the witnesses were less than cooperative with sheriff’s officers, slowing down the investigation and leading to the posting of a $1,000 reward for information about the shootings.
