At last week’s King George meeting of the county Wireless Authority, Dale Sisson noted that in response to a resident’s inquiry he provided current information that Virginia Broadband (VABB) has the Wireless Authority’s full approval to expand across the county.
There had previously been a lag in the county providing access to various cell towers licensed in the county, requiring some legal hurdles that have been successfully negotiated.
“I responded that has been taken care, and in fact VABB is under contract to provide coverage to 95 percent of the county and the tower issues have been addressed and that VABB is in the process of installing equipment along those towers,” Sisson said.
He added: “I just want the public to know that VABB has the tools from us that it needs to provide that service.”
Chairman Joe Grzeika said he had recently given a presentation on the procedures encountered with the King George wireless project at the annual conference of the Virginia Association of Counties (VACo), saying he could make that written presentation available, if desired.
