A former employee at the Naval Support Facility Dahlgren drew a five year prison term and a lifetime classification as a sex offender as William Edward Pitt, Jr., 71, pled guilty last week to a multitude of counts involving the possession and distribution of child pornography.
The King George man was arrested at his Eden Dr. Home back on July 21, 2011 after a grand jury found reason to charge him last year following a lengthy state police investigation involving child porn website viewers.
Pitt pled to more than 70 counts Friday of illegal child pornography as he was described as a frequent viewer of illicit sexual activity involving minor children. In addition to the prison sentence he now faces--360 years, with all but the five years he’ll actually serve, held as suspended--Pitt will serve electronic monitoring after his prison term for another five years and a lifetime suspension from internet access or contact with any person who has yet to reach the age of adulthood.
Pitt must also submit to DNA registry as well as facing a polygraph test every six months and being listed as an habitual sex offender. Additionally he owes more than $30,000 in circuit court costs.
