Margaret Ransone announces bid for reelection to 99th District Delegate Seat

Margaret Ransone, the Westmoreland County businesswoman and mother of two who ran a successful come-from-behind campaign to win election to the Virginia House of Delegates in 2011, has announced for reelection. Ransone is a Republican.
Ransone and dozens of supporters gathered in the rain on the steps of the Westmoreland County Courthouse Saturday to celebrate her first term accomplishments and her goals for a second term as the area’s 99th District delegate.

“I’m proud of the great things we were able to accomplish for the 99th District this past legislative session,” Ransone told the crowd. “But we still have more to do. My campaign will continue our constituent outreach to ensure we are doing everything we can to create jobs and utilize our natural resources, while preserving the way of life we all know and love.”

“She’s completely accessible,” said Northumberland resident Roger Meredith. “She’s always there when you call, she always votes in the interest of the people in the 99th District and she has the values that started this country.”

“Margaret has kept her promise to keep law enforcement a priority. She’s honest and personable and she stands up for law enforcement.”

Ransone said, if she is reelected, she will continue her work for smaller government, lower taxes and less regulation “so our businesses and economy can grow stronger.” She also pledged to promote energy independence and world class schools. “I know that education is best controlled at the local level by parents, teachers and local officials.”

Among those endorsing Ransone at the event was King George Sheriff Steve Dempsey. “Margaret has kept her promise to keep law enforcement a priority,” said Dempsey. “She’s honest and personable and she stands up for law enforcement.”

Montross businessman, Rhys Weakley, also endorsed Ransone. “She has established a reputation for being a hard worker for us and she understands what businesses go through on a day-to-day basis,” Weakley said.

State Sen. Richard Stuart of Montross, a Republican who represents the 28th Senatorial District, said, “I have never seen anybody work harder than Margaret. She fights hard for small business, family values and the Northern Neck.”

Ransone, who also supports right-to-life, the 2nd Amendment and private property rights, works in the family business, Bevans Oyster Company in Kinsale. She is a lifelong resident of Westmoreland County and a descendant of generations of watermen.
