Sheriff Steve Dempsey of the KGSO reports that the following incident took place on Tuesday, April 29:
A 911 call was received at the King George Dispatch office that a man was shot on Winston Place off Rt. 3. Rescue units and additional law enforcement were dispatched to the location.
A King George deputy was first on scene, and discovered a 20 year old male lying on the ground. The deputy began CPR on the victim, but was unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
A second gunshot victim was found walking around the area, and was discovered to be in serious condition. This victim was transported via ambulance to Mary Washington Hospital, and was then transported via ground transport to VCU hospital in Richmond. He is expected to survive his wounds.
The deceased was identified as 20 year old King George resident, Ronnell Johnson, who died from the gunshot wounds.
Both victims were found with their hands secured behind their backs with duct tape, according to the Sheriff's office.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Sheriff’s office with assistance of the Tri-County Narcotics Task Force, which is made up of law enforcement officers from Westmoreland, King George, Caroline, Virginia State Police and the FBI.
