Sheriff’s Office warns residents about vehicle break-ins

The King George County Sheriff’s Office has warned county residents to remember to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables from them when they park them at night. The warning comes after a rash of thefts from cars parked in the Presidential Lakes Subdivision across from the Post Office on Route 3.

Tritt finishes the Boston Marathon

On April 15, Michele Tritt accomplished her dream of a lifetime.  In spite of the bombing tragedy that will forever be embedded in the memories of Americans, the King George native, and current Kailua, HI, resident finished the 117th running of the Boston Marathon in three hours, 39 minutes, and 13 seconds—40 minutes before the bombing incident took place. Her personal goal was to finish the race with a time of 3:40.

Terra Products seeks special exception for a new business near Dogue

Terra Products LLC is seeking a special exception permit from King George to enable it to establish its concrete product business in a vacant building and invest $6 million to produce aggregate products with projected annual sales of $40 million.

Canine Officers and their dogs speak a different language

Canine officers Patrick Weston and Gary Craig and their police dogs, Titan and Kilo, are helping lead the fight against crime in King George County. But the two deputy sheriffs and their crime busting K-9 companions speak a different language.

King George woman who left children for a week receives jail sentence

Editor's Note: Kim Taylor, who some readers may know as the nice lady who sells candles at the King George Home & Craft Show, is not the mother referred to in the article. Kim is her first name, and not a nickname.

Kimberly Taylor, who didn’t return home for a week after she left her children and went to a party at Lake of the Woods, has entered a plea of guilty to one count of felony child endangerment.  Judge J. Martin Bass sentenced her to five years in prison, but suspended all but nine months.
