All traffic will be stopped for a 30-minute period tomorrow in King George near Naval Support Facility at Dahlgren

The intersection of Route 301 and Route 614 (Owens Drive) in King George County will be closed to all traffic tomorrow for a 30-minute period to allow freshly applied asphalt to dry.

Traffic will be stopped at the intersection during midday. The specific time will be announced tomorrow, a minimum of 30 minutes in advance of the closure.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and its contractor, Superior Paving, are milling and paving southbound Route 301 this month between the Harry W. Nice Bridge and a point just south of Route 206.

Motorists will encounter delays on southbound Route 301 in King George tomorrow and Thursday between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. for paving. A single lane of southbound 301 will be closed.

Burial of Boston Bombing Suspect in Muslim Cemetery in Caroline County

“Caroline County was not consulted or given any input into the decision-making process for determining a burial site for this individual. We had no advanced notice of the decision and unfortunately learned of the selection of a burial site through the media” said County Administrator Charles M. Culley, Jr. “We would much prefer to be associated with positive news reports from the national media, but unfortunately had no say in the matter.”

The Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Mr. Floyd Thomas and the Sheriff of Caroline County, will be holding a press conference in front of the Old Caroline County Courthouse at 3 p.m., Friday May 10.
