Dahlgren Heritage Museum to hold first events in October

After planning and fundraising for several years, the long- awaited Dahlgren Heritage Museum is preparing to hold its first events and begin its mission to tell the story of the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren.

“We have a terrific story to tell, an incredible story of innovation,” said Ed Jones, President of the Dahlgren Heritage Foundation.

Kristen Hornbaker, Ashley Perkins, Matthew Green, Jesse Jones and Josie Altman represented the KGHS Class of 2015 selling baked goods Saturday at the Farmers’ Market to raise funds for this year’s prom.

Service Authority capital projects

Fairview Beach well and water tank projects, and Dahlgren WWTP upgrade going forward

The King George Service Authority board last week approved an updated 2014-18 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) totaling $6,612,500 over the next five years as a planning guide for upgrades to the water and waste water facilities for the current year and future years.

In visit to Dahlgren, Sen. Kaine says U.S. must deal with Syria

Senator Tim Kaine, meeting with officials of the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren last week, said the U.S. must deal with Syria now that President Bashar al-Assad has used chemical weapons on his own people.

School Board reviews draft lease proposed for Hunter Field and gym at OKGES

School Board wants ability to terminate
The King George School Board last week reviewed a draft lease for Hunter Field and the gym at old King George Elementary School (OKGES), which is being referred to in the proposed document as the “Quonset Hut,” which is the type of construction of the gym building.
