Planning commission weighs options to deal with fracking

The King George Planning Commission agreed Dec. 9 to give three options to the board of supervisors for possibly revising the county ordinance that deals with exploratory drilling for oil and/or natural gas.
There was some disagreement about the wording, and commissioners will review language changes one more time at their Jan. 13 meeting prior to putting it to a vote.

Commission to examine local fracking rules

The King George Planning Commission soon will begin its review and analysis of the county’s zoning ordinance to address the potential local impacts of fracking.
Fracking is an industrial drilling process creating fractures in rock formations deep underground by injecting fluid into cracks to allow natural gas to be extracted.

Planning Commission gets 5-year capital projects list

Public hearing set for May 13

The Planning Commission got its first look at $28 million in projects proposed for an updated five-year Capital Improvements Program (CIP) for 2014-15 through 2018-19 at its meeting on April 8.

Board will reconsider Walnut Hill rezoning

The King George Planning Commission was informed last week on April 8 that the Board of Supervisors is scheduled on May 6 to reconsider a rezoning request in Dahlgren adjacent to the Bayberry subdivision.

Planning Commission recommends denial of rezoning in Dahlgren

The King George Planning Commission last week voted unanimously to recommend that the Board of Supervisors deny a current rezoning request under consideration in Dahlgren. The case involves a request to rezone 6.75 acres on U.S. 301 (James Madison Pkwy). The Commission reconsidered the case at its meeting last week on Jan. 14.
