Supervisors set to talk money, fracking Thursday

The King George Board of Supervisors has a jam-packed special meeting this week, including talks with the school board about this year’s budget and possible decisions regarding fracking.

CIP requests to be reviewed by King George Supervisors

The King George Board of Supervisors plans to review the Planning Commission’s rankings for this year’s capital projects list proposed for the next five years during a jam-packed special work session meeting agenda on Aug. 21.

KG Board updates Tech Advisory committee

The King George Board of Supervisors added another member to a planned Technology Advisory committee and also agreed to make a change in the groups’ charter.

Supervisors postpone remainder of School Board appropriations; call for August joint meeting

At a meeting the previous week on June 24, Supervisors had approved allocations of funding for the first quarter of 2014-15 for schools and all county departments, with the expectation that changes would be coming in the amounts for state revenue at the next meeting in mid-July.

Landfill vertical expansion explored

King George officials have been considering vertical expansion and gathering information about it since Waste Management District Manager Tom Cue first floated the idea more than a year and a half ago.

S&P upgrades King George’s financial ratings to ‘AA+’

The King George Board of Supervisors got good news last week from Travis Quesenberry, county administrator, who informed them that the financial rating agency Standard & Poor’s has upgraded the county’s bond rating again.

Fracking topic highlighted in King George

Fracking for natural gas and oil was the topic of a public information meeting last week in King George that drew about 150 people, in addition to public officials and the press.
