Supervisors ponder 2-cent tax rate increase

The King George Board of Supervisors may be preparing to debate its previously stated opposition to a real estate tax increase as part of its 2015-16 budget.

Supervisors endorse 2015-16 budget with no tax increase

The Board of Supervisors directed County Administrator Travis Quesenberry to proceed with development of a balanced 2015-16 budget with no tax increases.
The new fiscal year begins on July 1.

Dahlgren base land use study approved in King George

A joint land use study for the Naval Support Facility Dahlgren, underway since September 2013, was approved March 3 by the King George Board of Supervisors.
In addition to King George, the other localities involved in the study with the Dahlgren base are Westmoreland County and the town of Colonial Beach, as well as Charles and St. Mary’s counties in Maryland.

Supervisors unveil $38.5M 2015-16 budget

The King George County Board of Supervisors reviewed its approximately $38.5 million budget  for 2015-16, finding a potential gap of $2.2 million as revenues were estimated at about $36.3 million.

County hopes rebar firm spurs growth

County officials hope their deal with Commercial Metals Company is just the beginning of the expansion of the county-owned industrial park.
On Dec. 2, the King George Board of Supervisors OK’d a $12 million investment by Commercial Metals Company to relocate its manufacturing operations to the county.

County workers to get 2% pay raise

King George County employees will receive 2 percent pay raises effective Jan. 1.
The King George Board of Supervisors agreed to increase the planned raises from 1 percent to 2 percent at its Nov. 18 meeting, with formal approval of a budget amendment expected at its Dec. 2 meeting.
