The Community came together once again this past weekend with special expressions of love for their neighbors in need!

Trinity Methodist Church did a cereal drive. Cereal is an easy, nutritious meal for seniors anytime of day.
St. Paul’s Church donated two beautiful live flower arrangements for the reception area and several members volunteered in the kitchen again.
Reverend Scottie Jackson from River of Life Church in Colonial Beach delivered an encouraging message for Inspirational Hour while his wife Darlene played the piano. They also took groceries back to the beach for some families in need.
Castiglia’s baked delicious ziti for 200 people! The salad was put together thanks to Key Electric, with bountiful produce from the King George Farmers Market and Salem Baptist Church’s youth group who have a special mission project- a community garden to grow produce to go into meals to feed the hungry.
The Lunch Bunch passed out invitations in their lunches they serve to children in need over the summer.
Mars Hill King George youth group had a food drive at their July event and donated fresh, juicy watermelon for dessert.
The King George Farmers market has been a great donation site this year. Shoppers and farmers have donated fresh produce and money for the events.

Grace Presbyterian Church’ VBS is also doing a local mission project! For their theme Kingdom Rocks they will be building a castle with non perishable food to donate the last week of July. One nice thing about the ministry of Love Thy Neighbor is families can serve together to help our very own neighbors in need.
Our regular donation sites throughout the county really help make this happen each month also! They are The Journal, EXIT Realty Expertise, Rocky Top Embroidery and More, Century 21 Battlefield Realty, The YMCA, King George, House of Pizza, Simply Bliss Day Spa, American Business Card Co., A Unique House, Union Market Bank, Tims II, St John’s Episcopal Church and the King George Farmers Market. Some prefer too make pay pal donation at www.lovethyneighbor-kg.org
Many volunteered throughout the month collecting, doing inventory, distributing invitations, shopping, making flower arrangements, cooking serving and praying! And many people gathered at the event Sunday to volunteer greeting, hostessing, serving, and loving on our neighbors -encouraging them with a kind word, a smile or a prayer. A number of volunteers delivered groceries to more families in need who could not make it to the event.
A blessed day was had by all!
