Barbara Wiltshire Sullivan

Barbara Wiltshire Sullivan, 77, of Stafford County passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at her home surrounded by family.

For 44 years, Mrs. Sullivan was a beloved member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she was active in many ministries and taught Sunday school. She was a faithful servant of God, and was especially known for sending cards to family, friends and acquaintances for every occasion. Her favorite scripture is found in Philippians 4:13, which reads, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Mrs. Sullivan is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roland R. Sullivan; and by her son, Gary W. Sullivan (Kendra). She is also survived by three grandsons, Richard A. Sullivan of Fredericksburg, Daniel W. Sullivan of Charlotte, NC, and Anthony B. “Tony” Sullivan of Hampton; three nieces, Carol Samuels, Eileen Grimes and Jean Skidmore; and one nephew, Irvin Childress.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nola D. Wiltshire and her father, Ellis G. “Happy” Wiltshire, of Orange County; and two sisters, Frances W. Childress and Anna Mae Payne.

A celebration of her life was conducted by the Rev. Jim Davidson, Friday, March 1, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Entombment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum. Pallbearers were Richard Sullivan, Tony Armentrout, R.D. Samuels, Steven Skidmore, Irvin Childress and Charles “Bootsie” Bullock.

Memorials may be made in her name to Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 1193 White Oak Road, Fredericksburg, VA, 22405.
