Marjorie Wiley Britton, 85, of King George County went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. She died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Dogue.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Keith; her sister, Nancy O’Neill of Laguna Woods, CA; 10 children; two dozen loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; and a large community of friends and neighbors. She was a beloved member of Peace Lutheran Church in King George.
Marjorie was born in Washington, D.C., and retained a deep love of the city throughout her life. She met her husband at Woodrow Wilson High School and was trained as an R.N. at Lucy Webb Hayes Nursing School of Sibley Memorial Hospital.
Marjorie and Keith have owned property in King George County since the early 1960s, living there intermittently and eventually moving there permanently in 1999.
Marjorie had always retained her awe of nature and she loved living in the country, where she relished being near God’s creation, especially the Rappahannock River. She loved to gaze at the heavens, and exclaimed joyfully each time she saw a rainbow or full moon; a full moon shone on the night she lay down to sleep for the last time on this Earth.
Marjorie had a passion for serving Christ, her husband, family, friends and many charitable organizations.
A private memorial and burial will be held by the immediate family.
