Grady Allen Knapp, 74, of Shipman, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at his residence. Born on January 26, 1939, in Maryland, he was a son of the late Grady B. Knapp and Ernie Barnes Knapp. In addition to his parents, his sisters, Jerry Starliper and Dorothy Stine, preceded him in death.
Grady was a certified mechanic and was employed by Newton Car Care. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lora L. Knapp of Shipman; his children, Otis Lee Knapp, of Shipman, Ralph Edward Knapp, of King George, Don Allen Knapp, of Stafford and Jacqueline Smith, of Caroline County; 14 grandchildren, Crystal, Amanda, Otis Jr., David Allen, Grady Andrew, Amber, Justin, Rachel, Mitchell, Rex, D.J., Steven, Mark and Matt; eight great-grandchildren, T.J., Trinity, Braden, Jacob, Talon, Ellie, Kelsey and Brynn; eight siblings, Vie Sheff of Abilene Texas, Norma Pernell of Hagerstown, Md., Richard Knapp, of Woodbridge, Church Knapp, of Hagerstown, Michael Knapp, and his wife, Louise, of Warford, MD, Pat Knapp of Hagerstown, Steve Knapp of Hagerstown and Glen Knapp. He is also survived by a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Widewater Volunteer Fire Department, 749 Widewater Road, Stafford, VA, 22556.
