Sandra Usry Wasser, 71, of Spotsylvania County died May 29, 2013.
She is survived by her husband, Paul H. Wasser; a daughter, Paige Peyton (Wendal) of Chesterfield; three sons, Lee Rose (Betty) of Fredericksburg, Randy Rose of King George, Scott Rose (Brandi) of Orlando, FL; step-son Derek Wasser (Felica) of King George; step-daughter Tonya Dorton (Danny) of Orange County; brothers Dick Usry (Lis) of Annapolis, MD and Steve Usry (Elaine) of Chesterfield; 12 grandchildren; and her faithful and devoted dog, Queenie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Annie Mae Towler Usry, and her beloved Miss T (Margie Towler).
Mrs. Wasser was born in Richmond, where she was active in church and school activities. Her favorite pastime was attending dancing school from the age of two through her freshman year at Mary Washington College. She graduated from Washington Henry High School in Hanover County. She then earned a degree in Sociology from Mary Washington College and a master’s degree in library science from the University of Maryland.
She retired after 25 years of service with the Naval Surface Warfare Center in 1992 as an administrative librarian. For several years she worked part time in the Spotsylvania Circuit Court records room, drawing on the years of library service and the love of working with people, retiring in October.
A memorial service will be held in the future.
