Ernest E. Washburn, Jr.

Ernest E. Washburn Jr, 87, of Spotsylvania County passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, at Kindred Hospital in Richmond.

Ernie had a 41-year career in airline management with Capital Airlines, Lake Central Airlines and US Air. While working for the airlines, he lived in 21 different cities in 11 states.

Since retiring and moving to Fredericksburg, Ernie was active at Peace United Methodist Church and the Alexander Heights Apartments, being a charter member of The Wild Bunch. He enjoyed aviation in all forms, genealogy, Civil War history, reading, mall walking, traveling and family gatherings.

He was preceded in death by his wives, the former Connie Osbourn and the former Corrine Nesmith.

Ernie is survived by his sister, Dorothy Washburn Robey of Romney, WV; son David Washburn (Judy) of Kettering, OH; son Dan Washburn of Hendersonville, NC; daughter Kathy Washburn Nesmith (Jay) of Fredericksburg; son Mark Washburn (Jenny) of Colonial Beach; stepdaughter Joyce Nesmith Cross of Alexandria; grandchildren Spike Washburn (Heather), Jason Washburn, Shannon Washburn Cooper (Scott), TIffany Washburn, Stephanie Nesmith Barnum (Jon), Rachel Washburn Tankersley (Jonathon), Charlie Nesmith (Kate), Erin Washburn and Kelly Washburn Madden (Rich); great-grandchildren Kira, Alex, Mia, Rusty, Max, Ava, Lexi and Sydney; and numerous nieces and nephews
