Rudolf “Ralph” Vogel, 76, of King George County passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at his home.
Ralph was born in Bamberg, Germany, on June 11, 1937. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Sieglinde “Oma” Vogel, and grandson Sgt. Nicholas Conan Mason.
Ralph is survived by his four children and their families, all residing in King George County: son Dieter (Nicky); Christine Mason (Vic), and their daughter, Carley; son Michael (Lori), and their sons, Sean, Michael and David; and son Harold (Diddle), and their sons, Wyatt and Levi.
In June 1959, Ralph and Sieglinde immigrated to the United States, settling in King George County and beginning a rich and active life. Throughout his journey, Ralph learned many diverse skills that he passed on to his children--to ensure that they could always be self-sufficient. He was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in King George.
He was co-founder of Doug Taylor Auto Parts, and remained there until his retirement. After that, he honed his skills as a master craftsman.
Ralph’s proudest accomplishments were the life he built with Sieglinde, their four children and the love and success that they have had in their lives, and being “Opa” to his grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, May 6, at Peace Lutheran Church in King George, with the Rev Terrance Naumann officiating. Interment will be private at a later date at the Mason-Vogel family cemetery in King George.
Memorial contributions in Ralph’s memory may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church Building Fund, 5590 Kings Highway, King George, VA 22485.
