Mary E. White
Mary E. White, 73, of King George County died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Greer and Oliver “Teeney” White, both of King George, and Roland “Squeekie” White of San Antonio; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother Andrew Williams of King George; and two sisters, Helen White of Ruther Glen and Florence Matthew of Washington, D.C.
A funeral was held. Thursday, Sept. 27, at St. Stephen’s Baptist Church, King George, with the Rev. Anthony Jones officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Cedell Brooks Funeral Home, Port Royal, handled the arrangements for the family.

Tevin L. Jones
Tevin L. Jones, 19, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, in Montross, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
A viewing was held Friday, Sept. 28, at Little Zion Baptist Church, 7748 Leedstown Road, Colonial Beach (Oak Grove).
A funeral was held Saturday, Sept. 29, in the King George High School gym. Interment was in the Dixon family cemetery in Hague.
Funeral arrangements are by Weldon-Fisher Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Catherine Hutt O’Bier
Catherine Hutt O’Bier, 84, of Montross, widow of Durward “Pat” O’Bier, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012.
She had retired as a caregiver at Sunset Lodge and was a member of Currioman Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Durward O’Bier Jr. (Loney); daughter Claudia Barker (Bob); and grandchildren Cathy Bennett, Lynn Hayes, Patrick O’Bier and Cynthia Woolard. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Faith, Brie, Caroline, Alisyn, Peyton, Elena and Aidan; and special friend Margaret Stosch.
A funeral was held Saturday, Sept. 29, at Currioman Baptist Church in Zacata. Interment was in Coan Baptist Cemetery in Heathsville.

Anne Watts Hart, 66, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of King George County, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, in Port Charlotte.

M. Janice Groves
M. Janice Groves, 77, of Colonial Beach died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mrs. Groves was the owner and operator of Smithfield Farms Country Store in Oak Grove.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Algernon “Mickey” Groves; one daughter, Sandy Renee Dailey of Colonial Beach; two sons, Larry Ross Groves of Oak Grove and Michael Groves of Richmond; six grandchildren, Andrew, Christopher, Nicholas, Mickey, Samantha and Christina; and seven great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by two children, Debra Groves and Timmy Groves; and one grandson, Kenny Hott.
A service was held Sunday, Sept. 30, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randall Snipes officiating. Burial was in St. Peter’s cemetery, Oak Grove.

Ellen Elizabeth Walters Yeakle
Ellen Elizabeth Walters Yeakle, 95, of Colonial Beach passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012.
Ellen was born April 25, 1917, in Washington, D.C., to Helen Petitte Brill and John Walters. She married Joseph Yeakle on April 2, 1966, in Bailey’s Crossroads.
Prior to her retirement, Ellen worked for the federal government in civil service. She was a Senior Regent and lifetime member of the Women of the Moose. Ellen loved entertaining family and friends at her Colonial Beach home. Her hobbies included bowling, decorating, gardening, collecting lawn ornaments, taking long drives in the Virginia countryside and cheering her Washington Redskins.
Ellen is survived by a son, John A. Dugan Jr.; grandchildren Kathy Dugan Eickhoff (Bob) and John A. Dugan III; great-grandchildren Matt Eickhoff (Lori), Maddie Eickhoff and Bethani Dugan; brother George Brill (Pat); and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Ellen’s funeral was held on Monday, Oct. 1, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach. Interment followed in Historyland Memorial Park, King George.

Brandon Dean Huffman
Brandon Dean Huffman, 42, of King George County, formerly of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012.
Survivors include his son, Stephen Nicholas Huffman; his daughter, Brianna Marie Huffman; his parents, Denver Huffman Sr. and Shirley Bowles; his brothers, Christopher Shane Huffman, Denver Huffman Jr.; and his granddaughter, Isabella Marie Austin.

Barbara Jean Lewis
Barbara Jean Fowler Greene Lewis of Colonial Beach, VA died on September 26, 2012. She was 69.
Born in Washington, DC on July 13, 1943, she was the daughter of Clarence and Frances Simpson Fowler. She was survived by a brother, Stephen Fowler of Baltimore, MD.
Barbara was employed by Ben Franklin in Colonial Beach until it closed its doors. She then took a job for Food Lion. She left Food Lion for a short period of time while she and husband James Greene traveled to Florida. Upon her return to VA, she went back to work at Food Lion until her retirement in 1995.
Barbara enjoyed crocheting, needle work & scrapbooking. She was also known for her green thumb, growing beautiful flowers. These were enjoyed by everyone including the many hummingbirds that she was fond of watching.
Barbara, known lovingly as Bobby, Nan or Grandma loved family events and was famous for her potato salad. Though she might complain about having to provide this delicious dish for all the gatherings she always made extra for the host to enjoy later.
Ms. Lewis is survived by her children: Russell D. Greene of Florida, Michael S. Greene of Colonial Beach, VA, and Bonnie S. Reamy of Grasonville, MD, Debra A Windsor of Baltimore, MD, Martha V. Johnson of Glen Bernie, MD, and Shirley L. Zimmerman of Linthicum, MD. In addition, Barbara is survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren from both the Greene family and the Lewis family.
All services will be private.
