Evelyn J. Lumpkin
Evelyn J. Lumpkin, 77, of King George County passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012.
Evelyn was deeply religious and enjoyed a longtime membership at Hanover Baptist Church in King George, where she rejoiced in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her church family.
Born in Caroline County on Jan. 6, 1935, she was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse F. Lumpkin and Elizabeth Rouse Lumpkin; sisters Edith DeCapua, Elva Rose and Elsie Marshall; and brothers Harold, Kenneth and Wilbur Lumpkin.
Evelyn is survived by brother Jesse D. Lumpkin of Winter Park, FL; and niece Linda M. Freeman of King George, with whom she resided. She is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Sunday, July 22, at Green Lawn Cemetery in Bowling Green.
In recognition of her love for animals, donations may be made to the King George Animal Rescue League, Box 1003, Dahlgren, VA, 22448.

Sandra R. Talley Hayes
Sandra R. Talley “Sandi” Hayes, 50, of Colonial Beach passed away Monday, July 16, 2012, at Mary Washington Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Reid Sr.; stepfather Charles T. Coleman; and sister Louise R. Nelson.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas Hayes of Colonial Beach; mother Christine Coleman of Fredericksburg; four sons, Michael D. Reid, Willard L. Talley Jr., Tremayne C. Talley and Douglas M. Hayes Jr.; brother James Reid Jr.; and three sisters, Patricia Reid Jiggett, Barbara Houchens and LaFaye R. Graham.
A service was held Saturday, July 21, at Church of God of Prophecy, in Fredericksburg, with the Rev. Sherman Hayes officiating.
Burial was in Historyland Memorial Park in King George County.
A viewing was held at Cedell Brooks Funeral Home, Port Royal.

Anne W. Ellis
Anne W. Ellis, age 73 of Colonial Beach, VA and Rehoboth Beach, DE formerly of Alexandria, VA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and close friends on Friday, July 20, 2012 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE.
Anne was born in Betterton, MD on October 15, 1938, the daughter of the late Newton and Florence Ethel (Willis) Ellis.
She retired in 2001 as a code enforcement inspector with the city of Alexandria after 20 years of service. Growing up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Anne loved being around the water. She was an avid boater and scuba diver.
She is survived by her companion of 37 years, Loretta L. Wells; 4 sons, Samuel L. Cullis, Jr. of Annapolis, MD, Steven T. Cullis (Bonnie), of Worton, MD, Paul H. Cullis, Sr. (Beth), of Holden Beach, NC and Joseph C. Cullis of St. Louis, MO. She is also survived by a brother, Francis Ellis (Jan) of St. Petersburg, FL; 3 sisters, Jane Biggs of North East, MD, Miriam Mahowald (Tony) of Ellicott City, MD, and Alice Oberender (Dave) of Fallston, MD; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services and burial are private.
