Robert L. Ansel
Robert L. Ansel, 58 of King George County, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Mary Washington Hospital after a short battle with cancer.
Bob was employed by The Anderson Company in Manassas, Virginia.
He was an avid hunter and a great outdoorsman. His passions were hunting and golfing.
Bob also loved spending time with his Labs, Raven and Molly.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Jeanne Ansel, of the home; a son John Michael Ansel, daughter in law Jody and grandson, Tanner Gracien Ansel, all of Springfield, West Virginia.
A Celebration of Life was held, Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in Manassas, VA.
Covenant Funeral Services in Fredericksburg handled the cremation services.
Virginia Owens Carrick
Virginia Owens Carrick, 85, of Fredericksburg, formerly of Fairfax County and Montross, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mrs. Carrick was the daughter of William C. and Maude Owens. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Hope Chapter 73.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Carrick; and her son, Richard E. Carrick Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Claudia O. Soper and her husband, Cleve; her daughter-in-law, Sherry K. Carrick; special niece Jackie Partlow; several nephews; three grandchildren, Denise O. Campbell and her husband, Gary, Bryan S. Livesay and his wife, Tanya, and Matthew Carrick; and five great-grandchildren, Dustin Davies, Gary R. Campbell, Seth Campbell, Victoria Campbell and Ryleigh Livesay.
A service was held Friday, May 27, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Alton S. Owens
Alton S. Owens, 72, of Colonial Beach died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at his home. A memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, June 4, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach. Online guest book is at nashandslawfh.com.
Sylvia Virginia Banks, 76, of Colonial Beach passed away Monday, May 23, 2011, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Sylvia enjoyed and loved cats, painting and dancing. She was best known for her creation of Styrotown Colonial Beach.
Sylvia is survived by two daughters, Ronda Thomas and Kathy Banks; and two sons, Don Banks and Ronnie Skie. She also leaves behind numerous friends in Colonial Beach.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Gail.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Lawrence F. Banke
Mr. Lawrence F. Banke of Ocala, FL, formerly of Colonial Beach, passed away May 22, 2011, at the age of 87.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn A. Banke, and extended family and friends.
Mr. Banke was buried with military honors Friday, May 27, in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Bealeton.

William “Billy” Crawford
William “Billy” Crawford, 67, of Colonial Beach entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 16, 2011.
Billy was a mechanic and was retired from C&S Auto in King George County. He loved drag racing and could always strike up a conversation about cars.
Billy is survived by his wife, Mary Frances; two sons, David Crawford and his wife, Kelly, and Danny Crawford and his wife, Jessie; two stepdaughters, Frances Vaughan and Katie Collins and her husband, Patrick; two brothers, Richard Wilder and his wife, Brenda, and Larry Wilder and his wife, Tammy; two sisters, Amie Wilder and Dottie Sprouse and her husband, Larry; and several nieces and nephews. He also is survived by his special children, Scooter, Brutis, Cinnamon and Tux.
A memorial service was held Monday, May 30, at Colonial Beach Baptist Church.

Douglas Wayne Minter, Jr.
Douglas Wayne “D.J.” Minter, Jr. of Fredericksburg passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC.
He was a member of Montague Baptist Church and graduated from King George High School. He loved woodworking, cats, gardening, cooking and fishing. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved riding his 4-wheeler.
Survivors include his parents, Douglas W. and Laura Madison Minter; his maternal grandparents, Peggy and William Madison; his paternal grandmother, Margaret Minter; his brother Daryl Minter; his aunt, Jenny Kulp and her husband, Gerald and several other aunts; uncles; cousins; and other relatives including an especially close cousin, J.B. Durrette; and many special friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
A service will be at 2pm Thursday, June 2, 2011 in the funeral home Chapel, with the Rev. R. Kenneth Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
