Alma Corker Bass
Alma Corker Bass, 79, of Fredericksburg passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, with her family surrounding her.
Alma was born on Nov. 21, 1931, in Caroline County to James Lloyd and Julia Elizabeth Eisler Corker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Zack Corker, and her husband, David Brooks Bass. David and Alma were married two months shy of 50 years.
She is survived by loving daughters Hilary Dawn Shampine (Michael), and Heidi Bass, all of Fredericksburg; devoted niece Kelli Corker Embrey of Stafford; grandchildren Leah, Rachel and Ian Shampine; three siblings, Julia Rosella Gorham (Herman), of Alexandria, Lorene Rich of Colonial Beach and Vincent Corker (Pat Bell), of Stafford County; brother-in-law Austin Bass (Maggie), of Lititz, PA; sister-in-law, Dottie Tollberg (Stan), of Stafford; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews who were each dear to her heart. She also is survived by daughter Brenda Heddings and granddaughters Jenna Heddings and Kami Fox.
The family received friends Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association, Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.

James A. Coleman
James A. Coleman, 79, of Colonial Beach passed away Dec. 19, 2010, at Mary Washington Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Coleman; two sons, Ronnie Coleman of Charlotte, N.C., and Gerard Coleman of Fort Mills, S.C.; two daughters, Dorothy and Mary Jane Coleman, both of Spotsylvania County; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held Friday, Dec. 24, at Little Zion Baptist Church, Oak Grove, with the Rev. Howerton officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

A service for Zachariah Johnson was held on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, in Philadelphia.
A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Little Ark Baptist Church, Dahlgren.

Sarah Love Light
Sarah Love Light, 65, of Fredericksburg passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Sarah is survived by her husband of 49 years, David P. Light Sr.; four daughters, Sarah Ann Derby and her husband, David, of Norfolk, Sherry Garretson of Fredericksburg, Kimberly Light and her partner, Alicia Hamilton, of King George County and Kristy Young (Brian), of Fredericksburg; a son, David P. Light Jr. (Jonda), of Spotsylvania County; a sister, Leah of Maryland; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her church family.
Sarah’s family received friends Sunday, Dec. 26, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels-Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral was held Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Spotsylvania Church of God, 12240 Five Mile Road, Fredericksburg, with Pastor Donald Jones officiating. Interment followed in Glen Haven Cemetery.
