Ruth Madoline Bickel
Ruth Madoline Bickel, 82, of Frederick, Md., formerly of Colonial Beach, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010. She was born Ruth Madoline Taylor in Washington, D.C.
Ruth was the loving and devoted wife of Robert W. Bickel, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War; the proud and devoted mother of Karl W. Bickel of Monrovia, MD, retired Lt. Cmdr. Kevin J. Bickel of Ashburn, Keith W. Bickel of Frederick and Kirk Bickel of Gaithersburg, MD; proud and devoted grandmother of U.S. Marine Corps veteran Brian M. Bickel of Warfordsburg, PA, Darren L. Bickel of Ashburn, Christopher W. Bickel, a disabled USMC veteran of the Iraq war, of Frederick, USMC Cpl. Jared L. Bickel, currently serving in the Pacific, Lindsey M. Bickel of Frederick and Brett M. Bickel of Monrovia, MD; proud and devoted mother-in-law of Robin B. Bickel of Frederick, Bernardene Bickel of Ashburn and Teresa A. Bickel of Damascus, MD; loving sister of Raymond Robertson, a USN veteran, of Charlotte, NC, and Mary Jane DeVaughn of Fredericksburg; and a loving sister-in-law, Kathleen Ruble, of New Cumberland, PA. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan J. Bickel and her brother, Thomas Jerman.
After their marriage, Ruth and Robert raised their family in Kensington, MD, and shared retirement years in Colonial Beach and Fort Myer, FL. They later settled in Frederick.
A visitation was held Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N., Frederick, with the funeral Wednesday, Oct. 20. A foot procession followed the service to the Veterans Garden of Honor II for interment.

Larry Eugene Huffman
Larry Eugene Huffman Sr., 66, of Colonial Beach passed away Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at VCU Medical Center.
Larry was born in Anderson, Ind., and retired after 34 years as a computer specialist for the information management department at Pax River. After retiring, he worked for Burch Oil of Solomons Island., Md.
He was a member of American Legion Post 148 Colonial Beach, and enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and spending time with his family.
Larry is survived by his wife, the love of his life for 44 years, Lois “Judy” Weeks Huffman of the home; a son, Larry Huffman Jr. and his wife, Amanda; a daughter, Melissa Rumble; a sister, Nancy Lou Huffman of Texas; his grandchildren, Stephen Dettmer Jr., Shyla Rumble, Larry Huffman III, and Emma and Ava Huffman; a niece, Marcia Bartlett of Texas; his nephews and their spouses, Gerald and Jean Davis, Wayne Huffman and Earl and Helen Huffman of Indiana.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Genevieve Huffman.
Larry’s service will be private.

Lisa Marie Daugherty
Lisa Marie Daugherty, 30, of Colonial Beach passed away Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010. Lisa is survived by her husband, a daughter, her father and her grandparents.

Elise “Chick” Huddleston, 89, of King George County died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at her residence.
She was a member of Rebecca Lodge Victory No. 12 and the Silver Star Rebecca Lodge, and past state president of the Retired Officers Ladies Association in Arizona.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, John; a daughter, June Huddleston of Levean, Ariz.; three sons, Thomas Huddleston of Richmond, Jerry Huddleston of Glen Allen and Robert Huddleston of Midlothian; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lilian Lufsey of Richmond.
The family received friends Monday, Oct. 25, at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. A funeral service was held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Oct. 26, followed by the burial in Westhampton Memorial Park, Richmond, Va.

Carolyn Hathcock, 55, of Colonial Beach passed away Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at her residence.
Carolyn was an active member of the Montross Rescue Squad and the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
She is survived by her mother, Irene V. Davis of the home; a sister, Brenda Hartshorn and her husband, Rich, of Morganton, GA; a niece, Lauren Howell of Centreville; two nephews, Jonathan Savin of Manassas and Brad Savin of Charlotte, NC; and a great-niece, Saphia Howell of Centreville.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George, with the Rev. Richard Headley officiating. Burial will be private.

Teresa Vaughn Carr
Teresa Vaughn Carr, 83, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at her residence.
Mrs. Carr was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church in Culpeper, and attended Fredericksburg Baptist Church. She was a member of the Fredericksburg Country Club, an avid golfer, and enjoyed bowling and gardening.
Mrs. Carr was preceded in death by her husband, Hiter D. Carr; and her sister, Ann Watts.
Survivors include her daughters, Terry Carr Robinson and her husband, Scott, of Ninety Six, S.C., Donna Carr Meagher and her husband, Tom, of Dallas, Texas, and Jane Carr Spearbeck and her husband, Ned, of La Plata, Md.; her sister, Jean Burke of King George; four grandchildren, Janice Spearbeck, Taylor Meagher, Kimberly Schoch, and Danielle Voss; and four great-grandchildren, Jacob Schoch, Colby Voss, Jensen Schoch, and Camryn Voss.
The family would like to thank several people who have supported the family throughout the years, Charlene Gondal, Dr. Patrick McManus, Mary Beth Reckmeyer of the Senior Care Center at Mary Washington Healthcare, and Mary Washington Home Health and Hospice.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. J. Larry Haun officiating. Entombment will follow in the cemetery.
