Jessica R. Gohring

Jessica Ruth Gohring, 23, of Bronx, N.Y. passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009, in King George County.
Jessica was a recent graduate of Hofstra University in Long Island. She loved all sports and was a member of the MetNY U23 rugby team.
She is survived by her parents, Edward and Doris Gohring of King George; a brother, Michael Arthur Gohring Sr. of King George; and her paternal grandparents, Roger and Amy Gohring of Ceres, Calif.
A funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George, with the Rev. Ted James officiating. Burial will follow in Historyland Memorial Park, King George.
A visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at the funeral home.

Michael A. Gohring

Michael Arthur "Little Man" Gohring Jr. 5, of King George County passed away Saturday, July 25. 2009.
He was a student at King George Elementary School.
Survivors include his parents, Michael A. Gohring Sr. and Loretta L. Hamilton, a sister, Breanna Hamilton, and a brother, Dustin Hamilton, all of the home; maternal grandparents, Robert L. Pitts and Linda S. Pitts of King George, and Edward W. Gohring and Doris B. Gohring of King George; paternal great-grandparents, Roger and Amy R. Gohring of Ceres, Calif.
A funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George, with the Rev. Ted James officiating. Burial will follow in the Ferrell family cemetery on Pine Hill Road in King George.
A visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at the funeral home.

Dr. Timothy O. Smith

Dr. Timothy O'Neal Smith, 53, of Columbia, Mo., formerly of Dahlgren, died Friday, July 17, 2009, at his residence. He was the son of the late Olie Smith.
He is survived by his mother, Pearl Smith of Dahlgren; his two sisters, Gretna Y. Smith of Virginia Beach and Amy R. Smith of Spotsylvania County; and his brother, Thomas J. Louden of Fredericksburg.
A graduate of King George High School, Dr. Smith attended the University of Virginia, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He earned his master's degree and Ph.D. at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Timothy was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha and a charter member of its Fredericksburg chapter.
A funeral was held at Saturday, July 25, at Union Shiloh Baptist Church, Laneview, with the Rev. Frederick Young officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Dorothy Anne Glass

Dorothy Anne Glass, 70, of Greenville, PA passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 22,2009 at UPMC Horizon, Greenville.  She was born on August 27, 1938 in Greensburg, PA to her parents, Thomas and Dorothy (Klingensmith)Chalmers.  She was a 1955 graduate of Greensburg Salem High School.
She was a member of Greenville Alliance Church, where she previously served as Deaconess.  Her interests included painting, reading, needle work, ceramics, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Glass, whom she married on January 21, 1956 and who passed away on January 7, 2006; her parents; and a brother, Kenneth Chalmers.
Surviving Dorothy is her family, including three daughters, Cindy Kyle and husband Tim of Mercer, PA, Sharry Holdren and husband Jay of Raleigh, NC and Deb Campman and husband Bob of Greenville; three sons, Richard "Chip" Glass and wife Bobbette of New Castle, PA, K. Daniel Glass of Greenville, and Rev. David Glass and wife Lisa of King George, VA; her mother, Dorothy Chalmers of Greenville; a sister, Patty Hall of Greenville; sixteen grandchildren including, Rick Glass, Bobby Glass, Marlie Glass, Polly Kyle, Britten Holdren, Dru Holdren, Kolby Holdren, Tate Holdren, Evie Holdren, Mazie Holdren, Nickie Campman, Cristi Campman, Liz Campman, Karissa Glass, Isiah Glass, and Lila Glass; a great-grandchld Samuel Campman.
A Funeral and Committal Service was held Saturday, July 25th at Loutzenhiser-Jordan Colonial Funeral Home in Greenville, PA with the Rev. David Glass, son of the deceased officiating.  Burial was in Delaware Cemetery.

Charles E. Scranage

Charles E. "Eddie" Scranage, 88, of King George County passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Minerva Scranage of King George; one son, Donald C. Scranage of Oxon Hill, Md.; one daughter, Elaine Ward of Lorton; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Perry Scranage Sr. of King George; and four sisters, Juanita Washington, Margie Bumbrey and Pansy Bumbrey, all of King George, and Mary Clark of Richmond.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at Little Ark Baptist Church, Owens, with the Rev. Dr. Michael T. Bell officiating. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, in Quantico National Cemetery.His remains may be viewed from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, at Cedell Brooks Funeral Home, Port Royal. The family will receive friends thereafter from 7 to 8 p.m.

Earl Clyde Conway

Earl Clyde Conway, 65, of King George County died Monday, July 20, 2009, at his home.
He is survived by one brother, Warren Conway and his wife, Hattie, of Stafford County; and two sisters, Hilda White of King George and Jeanette Canada and her husband, Willie, of Fredericksburg.
A memorial service was held  Tuesday, July 28, at Bailey Funeral Home, Fredericksburg.

Cornelia Charlotte Mundy

Cornelia Charlotte Mundy, 70, known as "Aunt Connie" to many folks, died Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jeanette Mundy; one sister, Lena Errico and one nephew, Charles M. Mundy.
Born Oct. 14, 1938, in New York City, she moved to King George County and attended Mary Washington College, graduating with a degree in mathematics. She worked many years at the Naval Weapons Laboratory in Dahlgren (now known as the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division). She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in King George.
She is survived by her brother, Dr. Charles B. Mundy and wife Elsie; her nieces and nephews Cindy Mundy and husband David Cochran, Christine Mundy and husband Donald Combs, Claude Mundy and fiancee Patricia Vickers, Cary Mundy and lifelong companion Greg Kelley, Michelle Mundy and husband Charles M. Mundy, Frank Errico and wife Jenny, and Tina Errico. She is also survived by her beloved dog Angel.
A funeral was held Tuesday, July 28, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, 11089 James Madison Parkway (U.S. 301), King George, with the Rev. Michael D. Finn-McKenzie officiating. Burial  followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Fredericksburg.
Miss Mundy, an animal lover, requested that all contributions be made, in her name, to the Fredericksburg Regional SPCA, 10819 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, Va. 22408.

Dorothy E. Thomas

Dorothy E. Thomas, 90, of Colonial Beach died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Sunrise of Severna Park, Md. She was the widow of Lloyd B. Thomas.
A retired bookkeeper for the state of Maryland, she was the former treasurer and an active member of Colonial Beach United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Elliott and Larry C. Thomas; three daughters, Carol Whittington, Kathy Stelle and Eileen Weaver; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Helen Hennig. She was preceded in death by son Jeffrey Elliott and great-granddaughter Sabrina Barony.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Fort Myer Chapel (adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery), with interment in Arlington National Cemetery. A memorial service for Mrs. Thomas will be held at Colonial Beach United Methodist Church at a later date.

Rhonda Bryant-Kidwell

Rhonda Bryant-Kidwell, 37, of Colonial Beach passed away Friday, July 24, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Rhonda was a homemaker, and is survived by her husband, Ryan Kidwell, and her two daughters, McKayla Bryant and Toni Kidwell, all of the home; her father, Danny A. Bryant; her mother and stepfather, Pamela Bryant-Scruggs and Willie Scruggs; and a brother, Kevin R. Bryant.
A funeral was held Wednesday, July 29, at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Colonial Beach. Burial will be private.

Danny L. Williams

Danny Larry Williams, 56, of King George County died Friday, July 24, 2009, in Colonial Beach. He was born in Sparta, VA, June 29th, 1953 and lived in Milford, Va.
Visitation is scheduled from Noon to 8p.m. on Friday, July 31st with  the family receiving friends from 7-8p.m. at Cedell Brooks Funeral Home, 25662 A.P. Hill Blvd, Port Royal, VA.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, August 1st, 2009 at 11:00a.m. at the Old King George High School, 8246 Dahlgren Road, King George.  Remains may be viewed one hour prior to the service.  
Burial will be at Historyland Memorial Park, King George immediately following the service.
