Glenn J. Hollowell
Glenn J. Hollowell, 68, of King George County died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital.
He was manager of the NAPA Auto Parts Store in Montross and the former owner of Hollowell Exxon in Fairfax. He was a member of Colonial Beach Masonic Lodge 199.
He is survived by his wife, Carole D. Hollowell, of the home; five daughters, Mary Gehly and her husband, Art, of Front Royal, Jennifer Koonz and her husband, Chris, of Hershey, Pa., Janet Arcuri of King George, Karen Myers and her husband, Sean, of King George, and Lisa Gandy of King George; two sons, Glenn J. Hollowell and his wife, Erin, of Cardova, Alaska, and Jason M. Hollowell and his wife, Sharon, of King George; and 12 grandchildren: Emily, Anthony, Matthew, Jordan, Michael, Jacob, Skylar, Paige, Summer, Morgan, Lauren and Grant.
A funeral was held Thursday, Feb. 19, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George, with the Rev. Art Gehly officiating. Burial was in Historyland Memorial Park, King George.

Theodore "Ted" Walthall
Theodore "Ted" Walthall, 61, of King George County died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Mountain View Baptist Church, King George, with family visitation starting at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Patricia Jean Johnson, known to her family and friends as Tish, of King George County passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
She was born Dec. 23, 1953, at home in Lymanville, Pa., daughter of Roger and Jean Hall Williams. She was a 1971 graduate of Tunkhannock High School and attended Barrington College, R.I., receiving a B.S. in Spanish in 1975. She believed in continuing her education and studied over these past three to four years to receive her master's in business administration from the University of Phoenix in 2008.
She trusted in Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age, and was baptized by Pastor Victor Decker in Bowman's Creek. As a college student, she went on mission trips to Alaska and Honduras. In more recent years, she participated in two mission trips to China, teaching English as a second language.
She devoted many years to the Boy Scouts because of the influence they had on the lives of young men. As a result of her volunteer work with them, she was one of only 23 in the United States to receive the Silver Beaver Award last year. She was employed by URS, EG&G Division, Stafford County. She was a part of the MRAP Cougar Support Team. She was a bilingual schoolteacher for many years before working for the government.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, David Johnson; two sons, Jonathan and wife ShaVon Rose of Supply, and Mark of King George; two stepsons, David and wife Darlene of North Bay, Ontario, and Jeff Johnson of Coventry, R.I.; five stepgrandchildren; parents Roger and Jean Williams of Keiserville, Pa.; brothers R. Dell and wife Judy Williams of Lymanville, Terry S. Williams of Bardwell, and R. Brian and wife Karen Williams of Lymanville; sister Lori Kim Williams of Keiserville; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Sheldon Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 West Tioga St., Tunkhannock, Pa., with Pastor Brian Williams, brother of Mrs. Johnson, officiating. Interment will be in Sunny- side Cemetery, Tunkhannock.

Norma Jean Harrison
Norma Jean Harrison, 64, of Colonial Beach passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2009.
She was the wife of Tommy Dale Harrison and had retired from Kmart.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Deans Hendricks and her husband, Paul Bryan, of Gates County, N.C.; her sisters, Patricia Ann Luttfring and her husband, Joseph, of Carmichael, Calif., and Ruth Louetta Hosgood and her husband, Leroy, of Millington, Md.; and one granddaughter, Taylor Margaret Deans.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Alphas Smith, and mother, Margaret Virginia Smith, who passed away on Feb. 11, 2009.
Memorial services were held at Sunday, Feb. 22, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Oak Grove.

Ellen P. Brooks
Ellen P. Brooks, 78, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mrs. Brooks had retired as a dietician from Mary Washington Hospital, and later worked at Battlefield Elementary School for 10 years. She was a member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 60 years, Harris W. Brooks; her daughters, Wanda Stephens and her husband, Donald, of Fredericksburg, Judy Haynes and her husband, Earl, of Stafford County, and Sandra DuVal and her husband, George, of Fredericksburg; her son, Lamont Brooks and his wife, Kathy, of Fredericksburg; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Agnes Parmenter of Annandale and Alice Dickinson of Montross.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 26, in Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. John De Jong officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

Austin L. "Blue" Thompson
Austin L. "Blue" Thompson of Tappahannock departed this life Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at a local hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Flossie Thompson; five sisters: Mae Ball of Boston, and Cora Sydnor, Ruth Wood, Rochelle Thompson and Thelma Watkins, all of Baltimore, Md.; and one brother, Donnie Thompson of Baltimore.
A viewing will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at First Baptist Church, Tappahannock, where funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, with the Rev. Dr. Vernon Keeve Jr., pastor, officiating. The Rev. Dr. Marion Tapscott will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Irma Pratt Hill
Irma Pratt Hill, 82, of Center Cross departed this life Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at her residence.
She is survived by one daughter, Sue Ellen Bowler, and one son, James R. Hill, both of Center Cross; three sisters, Francis Pratt, Iona Bundy and Odell Bundy, and one brother, Thomas Pratt, all of Tappahannock.
Viewing will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock, and one hour before funeral at the church. Funeral service will be at noon Saturday, Feb. 28, at Angel Visit Baptist Church, Dunnsville, with the Rev. Russell Smith officiating. Interment will be in Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery, Center Cross.

Mary L. Steffey
Mary L. Steffey, beautiful and lifelong partner of Ralph Steffey, and daughter of the late Ruby Urbank was blessed into this world on Nov. 6, 1949, and departed us on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009.
A dedicated mother, relative and friend, we were blessed with her presence for 59 wonderful years.
She is survived by her three children, Leslie Davis, Hollie Delane and Daniel Steffey; grandchildren Brent Steffey, Devin Davis, Trevor Delane, Mason Delane, Brooklynn Delane, Jaxson Delane and Evan Steffey; and sisters Vicky Scott and Pam Graham. Additional family members include sons-in-law Nathan Delane and Carl Davis, and daughter-in-law Colleen Steffey.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at Maranatha Baptist Bible Church, with the Rev. James Johnson and the Rev. Marvin Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery in Oak Grove.
Pallbearers include Carl Davis, Brent Steffey, Steve Bowen, Jason McGinnis, Fred Pratt and Joe Muse.

James Ernest Bailey
James Ernest Bailey, 81, husband of Billie Jane Bailey, of Colonial Beach, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2009.
He was retired maintenance supervisor for Arlington County Water Pollution Board, member of Popes Creek Baptist Church and a U. S. Army veteran.
He is also survived by his sons, the Rev. Dr. Carrington L. Bailey and wife, Linda, of Fredericksburg, and Donald R. Shuman and wife, Suzanne, of Liberty S.C.; daughters Sherrie Cherdak and her husband, Brian, of Fairfax, Rebecca A. Roberts and her husband, Joseph, of Moncks Corner, S.C., and Jeannie M. Bailey and her partner, Jane Bennett, of Fairfax. Also surviving are grandchildren Travis, Daniel and Jason Roberts, Zachary and Carl Bailey, Rachel Cherdak, and Joshua and Katie Shuman; niece Theresa Hinshaw Cox of Fairfax and nephew Joe Hinshaw of Harrisonburg.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Popes Creek Baptist Church, Baynesville. Interment will follow at 4 p.m. in City of Fairfax Cemetery, Fairfax.
