Doris J. Weeks Cropper
Doris Jeanette Weeks Cropper, 63, of King George County died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mrs. Cropper was the widow of Charles N. Cropper.
Survivors include her son, Robert N. Cropper; daughters, Vicky Cropper, Amy Peyton and Doris Shannon; three brothers; one sister; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles N. Cropper Jr.
A funeral was held Friday, Jan. 30, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Burial followed in Historyland Memorial Park.

John R. Lewis
John R. Lewis, 67, of Callao died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Lewis was employed by Hoover Treated Wood Products of Milford for 26 years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda J. Lewis, and a brother, Donald L. Lewis.
Survivors include his parents, George N. and Thelma R. Hales of Colonial Beach; two sons, Mel Boone of Carmichaels, Pa., and Shawn Boone and his wife, Tammy, of Warsaw; three sisters, Gloria H. Fowler of Colonial Beach, Sylvia Rollins of King George County and Wanda Lewis of Colonial Beach; and two grandchildren, Austin and Abigail Boone, both of Warsaw.
His funeral was Friday, Jan. 30, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George, with the Rev. Danny Maupin officiating. Burial was in Historyland Memorial Park, King George.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Colonial Beach Humane Society, 6 North Irving Ave., Colonial Beach, Va. 22443; or to a favorite charity.

Brandon Lee Summers, Jr
Brandon Lee Summers Jr., 6 weeks old, of King George County, passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his loving parents, Brandon and Donna Summers; six sisters, Katie and Briana Johnson, Aitxsa and Alexsis Rohena, Brandy Abraham and Delilah Summers; her uncles, Robert Trautman, Chris Trautman and Bryan Greene; her aunts, Brooke Goodman and Amanda Greene; her grandparents, Mary Hiser of King George County and John and Laura Greene of South Hill.
A service was held Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Esther M. Newton
Esther M. Newton, 96, of the White Oak area of Stafford County, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at Woodmont Center.
Mrs. Newton was the widow of Archie Newton and a member of Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Alfred Gordon Newton and his wife, Ruby, of King George County; her two daughters, Shirley Seay and her husband, Clifton, of Stafford, and Betty Jubb and her husband, Kenneth, of Colonial Beach; her brother, James Lewis Carver of Spotsylvania County; her sister, Beatrice Clark of Keezletown; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Bobby Newton.
A funeral was held Friday, Jan. 30, at Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Abbie Henderson Flippo
Abbie Henderson Flippo, 86, of Fredericksburg passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at Woodmont Center. She was the widow of her beloved husband of 56 years, C. Lee Flippo.
She was born in King George County, a daughter of the late Watson S. Henderson Sr. and Effie Henderson. She worked at FMC until it closed.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Watson S. Henderson Jr. and Joseph Henderson.
Abbie is survived by her four sisters, Helen Eastridge and Roberta Cox, both of Stafford County, Myrtis Carver and her husband, James, of Spotsylvania County and Nancy Dobbins and her husband, Lewis, of Phoenix, Ariz.; her three brothers, James Henderson of Spotsylvania, David Henderson, and his wife, Lucille, and Levert Henderson and his wife, Juanita, all of Stafford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Staddan officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
