Grady Allen Knapp

Grady Allen Knapp, 74, of Shipman, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at his residence. Born on January 26, 1939, in Maryland, he was a son of the late Grady B. Knapp and Ernie Barnes Knapp. In addition to his parents, his sisters, Jerry Starliper and Dorothy Stine, preceded him in death.

Nancy Bamford

Nancy Bamford, 79, of King George County passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Mary Washington Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Robert Bamford and four children.

A visitation was held Monday, May 20, at Cedell Brooks Funeral Home followed by burial at Historyland Memorial Park, King George.

Albert Michael Jacobchik

Albert Michael Jacobchik, 85, of Spotsylvania County passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, at Bowling Green Health and Rehab Center.

Mr. Jacobchik was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He later worked as a carpenter. Survivors include his children, Pamela L. Crouch (Ray) of Spotsylvania, Albert Michael Jacobchik Jr. of Warrenton, Debra Hite (Michael) of Wythe County and David Paul Jacobchik of King George County; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 3, at Quantico National Cemetery.

Dorothy Mae McGinniss

Dorothy Mae McGinniss, 88, of King George County went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 5, 2013.

She was the daughter of the late Fannie Mae Laird of Tangier Island and John H. Lewis of Irvington.

Born in Irvington on Aug. 28, 1924, Dorothy was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and wife.

Terry D. Gilliland

Terry D. Gilliland, 63, of Colonial Beach passed away Monday, May 20, 2013 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Terry attended Colonial Beach Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired as an architectural engineer from the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. He was a brilliant master craftsman and a Revolutionary War re-enactor.

He was a member at George Washington’s Birthplace and belonged to the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Vicki; his two children, Keith and Judi; his two beloved grandsons, Josiah and Noah; his mother, Marjorie Gilliland; two sisters, Bonnie McWhirt and Debby Poe; two brothers, Steve and John; and many nieces and nephews. He was also close to his in-laws, Debbie Gray, Dale and Dennie Taylor and their families.

Terry was a loving and devoted husband, father and granddaddy. He will be greatly missed. He will always be remembered for his laughter and good sense of humor. The family is very saddened by his loss.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24.

Interment will follow in Historyland Memorial Park, King George.

Memorials may be made to Colonial Beach Baptist Church, George Washington’s Birthplace or James Monroe’s Birthplace.

Paul E. “Papa” Lee

Paul E. “Papa” Lee, 76, of Colonial Beach, formerly of Michigan, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013, in King George.

Paul had retired as a grade 13 police detective in Highland Park, Mich. He was a Korean War Marine Corps veteran, a member of the Order of the Eagles and an avid horse-racing fan.
