Martha J. Williams

Mrs. Martha J. Williams of Hephzibah, GA, entered into complete victory on Monday, March 18, 2013.
She was born to the late Paul Johnson and Martha Johnson.

Leaving to celebrate her life is her loving, devoted and loyal husband, Vernon Williams I, who was her high school sweetheart. They were married Nov. 22, 1972.

Through that union came their four devoted children, Tashara Harris (Joseph), Vernon Williams II (Linda), Martha “Della” Williams-Smith (Elton) and William Williams. She also leaves daughter-in-law Latonja Williams; 10 doting grandchildren, Daniel, Vernon III “LV,” DeVon, Tyler, Izriah “Izzy,” Iyanna “Yanni,” Mikayla, Brielle “Bri,” Alexander Houston and Alexander Mormant; brothers, Paul (Mozella) of Washington, D.C., and Robert (Ella) of King George County; sister Katherine of Charlottesville; her loving mother, Martha Johnson of King George; sisters-in-law Diane Johnson of Maryland and Phyllis Johnson (James) of Dahlgren; brothers-in-law, Calvin Williams (Jackie) and Ralph Williams (Janice) of Dahlgren, Wayne Williams of King George and Clyde Tyler of Washington, D.C.; four uncles; four aunts; two godchildren, Gerard Hunter and Bennie “Bishop” Carr; and cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A viewing was held Tuesday, March 27, at Lee Funeral Home, 12005 James Madison Highway, King George.

Her home-going celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, at Greater Little Ark Baptist Church, 15681 Owens Drive, King George, VA, 22485.

Donald Leigh Rumuly

Donald Leigh Rumuly, 83, of Spotsylvania County passed away Monday, March 25, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Rumuly was a graduate of Spotsylvania High School. He retired from FMC after 20 years and later retired from NSWC at Dahlgren. He was a lifetime member and deacon at Hebron Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ellen B. Rumuly; two children, Ernest Rumuly (Diane) and Robbin Griffin, all of Spotsylvania; two grandchildren, Scott Rumuly (Serena) and Dakota Griffin of Spotsylvania; great-granddaughter Taylor Rumuly of Spotsylvania; three brothers, Kenneth Rumuly of Fredericksburg, Vivian Rumuly (Diana) of Giddings, TX, and Maynard Rumuly (Margaret) of Spotsylvania; and numerous extended family.

He was preceded in death by great-grandson Gavin L. Rumuly; and his sister, Florence Faulk.

A service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at Hebron Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bob Ellinger, the Rev. Carol Markham and the Rev. James Fetty officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the interment in the fellowship hall.

Pallbearers will be Scott Rumuly, Bradley Griffin, Sherril Moore, Mike Loveless, Kevin Perry and Stewart Robbins. The Adult Men’s Sunday school class and deacons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Otis G. Childress

Otis “Mudhole” Garnett Childress, 74, of Stafford County passed away Saturday, March 16, at Mary Washington Hospital. Mr. Childress was a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Backwoods Hunt Club. Survivors include his companion, Barbara Ann Brooks; son Anthony Childress; two grandchildren; brother Ronald Childress; and sister Janet Bell. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Marie Childress. The family received friends Monday, March 18, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Anna E. Richardson

On Friday, March 8, Anna E. Richardson, 87, of Washington, D.C., formerly of King George County, transitioned from earth to her eternal home in heaven. She was the daughter of the late Zack and Addie Davis of King George. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Richardson; sister Edna Johnson; and brother Zack Davis III. A celebration of life service was held Tuesday, March 19, at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle.

Rose Virginia Hancock
Rose Virginia Hancock, 107, of Dahlgren passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at home.
Rose was born in White Plains, MD, to Samuel and Virginia Gough. She was the widow of Budd Hancock.
Survivors include three daughters, June Jones of Dahlgren, Carole Barcalow of King George and Rosalind Elmore of Great Falls, VA; two sons, L. Gean Hancock of Stuarts Draft, VA and Aubrey Hancock of Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Rayner Hancock.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George.
A graveside service will be held in Oakland Baptist Cemetery, Owens, with the Rev. Guy Mattox Jr. officiating.

Lillian L. Lucas

Lillian Lou Lucas, 72, of King George County died Friday, March 8. She is survived by her husband, Harrison Maurice Lucas; a son, Harrison Maurice Lucas Jr.; six daughters, Christine Thomas, Carolyn Sutton, Linda Lou Peyton, Wilia Mae Jackson, Annette Sutton and Cynthia Lucas. A funeral was held on Saturday, March 16, at Good Hope Baptist Church in King George. Lee Funeral Home in Warsaw is handling the arrangements.

Lillian Marie Stone

Lillian Marie Stone, 72, of Stafford County passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Survivors include her sons, Michael R. Stone of Stafford, Tracy W. Stone of King George and Kevin J. Stone of Alexandria; grandchildren Brandon M., Brittany, Alexander C., Rebecca V. and Ryan T. Stone; brother Herman Jett of Stafford; and sister Judy Henderson of Stafford.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Stone.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, March 12, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Elizabeth Jeanne Kling

Elizabeth Jeanne Matthes Kling, 80, of Heathsville, immediate past president of the Lancaster-Northumberland Interfaith Service Council and past-chairman of the Northumberland County Republican Committee, passed away Saturday (March 9) at the Medical College of VA in Richmond.
The cause of Mrs. Kling’s death was a severe head trauma suffered when she collapsed at her home Friday (March 8) as a result of multiple myeloma, for which she had been receiving chemotherapy for several years.
Known by all as Jeannie, Mrs. Kling also was called “Miss Jeannie” by many Northern Neck residents who received assistance from the Interfaith Service Council through her guidance.  She was born in St. Louis,

Barbara Wiltshire Sullivan

Barbara Wiltshire Sullivan, 77, of Stafford County passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at her home surrounded by family.

For 44 years, Mrs. Sullivan was a beloved member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she was active in many ministries and taught Sunday school. She was a faithful servant of God, and was especially known for sending cards to family, friends and acquaintances for every occasion. Her favorite scripture is found in Philippians 4:13, which reads, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Mrs. Sullivan is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roland R. Sullivan; and by her son, Gary W. Sullivan (Kendra). She is also survived by three grandsons, Richard A. Sullivan of Fredericksburg, Daniel W. Sullivan of Charlotte, NC, and Anthony B. “Tony” Sullivan of Hampton; three nieces, Carol Samuels, Eileen Grimes and Jean Skidmore; and one nephew, Irvin Childress.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nola D. Wiltshire and her father, Ellis G. “Happy” Wiltshire, of Orange County; and two sisters, Frances W. Childress and Anna Mae Payne.

A celebration of her life was conducted by the Rev. Jim Davidson, Friday, March 1, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Entombment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum. Pallbearers were Richard Sullivan, Tony Armentrout, R.D. Samuels, Steven Skidmore, Irvin Childress and Charles “Bootsie” Bullock.

Mildred E. Thorne, 93, of Shiloh in King George County died Monday March 3, 2013, at her home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green.

Isabell H. Jones, 82, of Lexington Park, Md., passed away Friday, March 1, 2013, in Fort Washington, Md.

She is survived by one daughter, Carleen James (Douglas) of Fort Washington; three sons, Charles L. Jones (Louise) of Clinton, MD, Raymond Jones (Annie) of Colonial Beach and Dennis Jones of Lexington Park; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Roberta Hickman of Washington, DC.

A viewing will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Cedell Brooks Funeral Home, Port Royal, and one hour prior to the service at the church. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at Little Zion Baptist Church, Oak Grove, with the Rev. Earl Howerton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Kelly D. Walker

Kelly D. Walker, 41, of Colonial Beach passed away Monday, March 4, 2013, at home.
Kelly was born April 1, 1971, in Portland, OR. He retired after 20 years with the U.S. Navy and had been working with the U.S. Navy as an emergency dispatch operator. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Colonial Beach.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Walker of the home; a son, Kyle Walker of Colonial Beach; a daughter, Lauryl Ault of Washougal, WA.; father Ron Walker of Aurora, OR.; three brothers, Kris and Justin Walker, both of Aurora, and Jeremy Walker of Thousand Oaks, CA.; aunt Diane Abney of Waldport, OR.; three uncles, Greg Abney of Waldport and John and Scott Black of The Dalles, OR; three nieces, Nicole and Natalie Walker of Thousand Oaks and Lydeel Cardenas of Colonial Beach; nephew Kristopher of Vancouver, WA; cousins Michael and Rhonda Alioth of Gresham, OR, and Jayson Alioth of Hillsboro, OR; and longtime family friends John and Suzanne Festa of Winchester and Mike Legler of Colonial Beach.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Kimberly; mother Jean Walker; and grandmother Geraldine Black.
The family received friends Monday, March 11, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George, followed by a memorial service officiated by the Rev. Richard Headley.
Inurnment will take place at National Cemetery in Southern California at a later date.

Ruth Althea Monroe, 75, of King George County passed away Friday, March 1, 2013, at Mary Washington Hospital.

She is survived by four sons, Antwan Holton of Waldorf, MD, Kelsey Monroe of Winston-Salem, NC, James Monroe (Ren) of Colonial Beach and Thomas “T-Bird” Monroe of King George; three daughters, Rene Ballard of Stafford County, Shirrelle Berkeley of Chesterfield and Jacqueline Kay of Spotsylvania; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth Brown of King George and Donald Brown of Spotsylvania; and two sisters, Vertalia Brown of King George and Joyanne May of Washington, DC.

A viewing will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at Cedell Brooks Funeral Home, Port Royal and one hour prior to the service at the church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Antioch Baptist Church in King George, where a service will be held at 1 p.m, Thursday, March 7, with Dr. Larry Finch officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in King George.
