Lawrence Foster “Pee Wee” Atwell, 77, of Colonial Beach passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012 at home.
Pee Wee was a handyman who loved riding his bike around Colonial Beach and helping others. He attended both Colonial Beach Baptist and Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Nellie Garnett Allen, 92, of Hague passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012.
Mrs. Allen was a member of Coles Point United Methodist Church and the widow of James Allen and Samuel Phillips.

Davie E. Jones, 60, of Lexington Park passed away Tuesday, Nov., 6, 2012, at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Jones, and his son, Travis Jones, both of Richmond; his mother, Isabell H. Jones of St. Mary’s, MD; his father, Daniel Jones and stepmother Agnes of Colonial Beach; and several brothers and sisters.
A funeral was Saturday, Nov. 10, at Little Zion Baptist Church in Colonial Beach, with the Rev. Earl Howerton officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Arthur Lee Mills Jr. 48, of Stafford County passed away at his residence on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012.
He was a member of Stafford Crossing Community Church and worked for more than 20 years as an elevator technician for Schindler Elevator Co.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kerri, and son Daniel of the home; mother Joyce Mancini (Jim) of Naples, FL; sisters Dora Lumpkin (Jimmy) of King George and Annie Heflin of Richmond; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service was held Monday, Nov. 12, at Stafford Crossing Community Church. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in his name to Stafford Crossing Community Church, Building Fund, 1420 Forbes St., Fredericksburg, VA, 22405.

David Steven Dove, 61, of King George County died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at home.
Survivors include two brothers, Roy and Harvey Dove; and three sisters, Ruby Finall, Penny Dove and Fay Bourne.

Eugene Miller, 72, of King George County died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at his home. He was born Nov. 5, 1939, in Chicago, the son of Jesse and Linda Fister Miller.
Mr. Miller earned his Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Kent State University in 1961. He then enrolled in graduate studies in mathematics at Michigan State University and later at the University of Maryland.
He moved to King George County in 1965 and began his career with the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, where he was an operations research analyst until his retirement in 1994.
Upon retirement, he devoted his time as a volunteer at the Caledon Natural Area, where he logged over 3,600 hours of service. Visitors would often find him working on the park’s trail system or welcoming and assisting them when they came into the Visitors’ Center.
Mr. Miller’s hobbies included woodworking, motorcycling and gardening.
He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Susan and Katharyn. He is survived by two nephews and a niece.
A celebration of his life was held Saturday, Nov. 10, at Caledon State Park.

Alice Powell Beck
Alice Powell Beck, a lifelong resident of Westmoreland County, passed on Monday, November 5, 2012.
She was born in Monroe Hall, VA on May 4, 1927. Alice was the daughter of James Clifford Powell and Sadie R. Fisher.
Alice was a graduate of Oak Grove High School. Among her many interests were gardening, fishing, canning, and baking pies and cakes for her friends. Alice was preceded in death by her husband of forty one years, Martyn Beck.
She is survived by her sister Margie Gutridge (Willie); brothers Tommy Powell, Russell (Barbara), Julian and (Virginia), Douglas and his partner, Shawn Chisholm and many nieces, nephews and valued friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Joyce Frank, and by brothers James A. “Billy” and Leroy Powell.
The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George followed by the funeral. Interment will be in in Historyland Memorial Park, King George.

Naomi Elizabeth Wright Johnson was born in Westmoreland County on July 24, 1935, to the late Isaac and Frances Wright. On Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, after a prolonged illness, under the watchful eyes of her grandchildren at her home, Naomi was quietly called from labor to rest. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.

George Delany Tabler
George Delany Tabler, 79, of Summerfield FL, and formerly of King George VA passed away September 9, 2012.
Born November 22, 1932, in Montgomery County MD, he was the son of the late Lewis and Ethel Tabler.
Mr. Tabler honorably served our country in the U.S. Army. He was a welder employed by the Naval Research Laboratory Washington DC and the Naval Support Activity Dahlgren Division Dahlgren, VA, retiring after 33 years of devoted service.
As a young man, he enjoyed horses, trains and playing football on a farm-team against the Baltimore Colts at their Western Maryland College Summer Camp, Westminster MD. Later on, he enjoyed his home and gardening, traveling with his wife, watching old western movies and college football, umpiring softball, golfing with his buddies, attending family reunions and serving many years of Masonic and Eastern Star membership and was also a long-standing member of the First Baptist Church, Belleview, FL and former member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, King George.
He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Lewis, John and Dorothy; and, in 2002, the passing of his beloved wife, Evelyn (Jones) Tabler of King George County. He is survived by many loving family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012, Noon, at Shiloh Baptist Church, King George. Pastor Mike Jessee will officiate.
