KGMS-PTA sponsoring a Dance for 7th & 8th graders. The dance is from 7-9 p.m. Dress is more than jeans, less than prom. Featuring dancing, popcorn, soda and picture. $10 per ticket. Parent or guardian must sign attendee in & out. Tickets on sale at lunch. Call the school at 775-5881 for more info.

KG Democratic Committee to meet at 7 p.m. at the Smoot Library in KG. All are invited to attend.

KGP&R needs help “naming” new creature in front of their building

This critter recently was found on the grassy area in front of the KGP&R offices. Another of one of a kind seasonal decorations, this particular critter has no name.

Arrival of ospreys signals arrival of spring

The thousands of ospreys that flew into the Northern Neck and the Chesapeake Bay last week were perhaps less than thrilled by the cold, wet weather that marked the March 20 arrival of spring.
After all, the mighty raptors were migrating north for the spring and summer following a winter sojourn as far away as Brazil.

Century 21 Battlefield spearheads collection of 1100+ boxes of cereal

The 2014 annual Fredericksburg Assn. of Realtors “Cereal Drive “ was a tremendous success! Locally, realtors from Century 21 Battlefield worked together with the three King George elementary schools and surpassed their goal of 1,000 boxes and actually collected well over 1,100 boxes of cereal for food pantries.

May 25-31 - VA’s Sales Tax Holiday for Hurricane & Emergency Preparedness Equipment

Virginia provides consumers a full week of exemption from the state’s sales tax on purchases for numerous items designated by the Department of Taxation as hurricane preparedness equipment, including portable generators, May 25-31.
