Carey voted Lancer Male Athlete of the Year

Longwood junior and Colonial Beach High School alumni, Tristan Carey was recently named as the Lancers’ Male Athlete of the Year. The 6-4 guard on the men’s basketball team averaged 15.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, while starting in 32 games. Carey posted 26 double-figure scoring games, along with one 40-point game, three 30-point games, eight 20-point games, and two double doubles.

His 40-point endeavor came on the heels of a battle against Liberty. The effort is a school Division-1 record, and fifth best all-time, and the highest single-game total in the Big South Division this season. During the Liberty game, he nailed eight three-point field goals. Carey was also named to the Continental Tire/Las Vegas Invitational All-Tournament Team.

He majors in sociology, with a minor in business management. Fellow Lancer, Kelsey Pardue, a midfielder on the women’s soccer team was named Lancers’ Female Athlete of the Year.
