Pierce named to 2012-13 All-Big South Women’s Academic Team

Leonard Banks
Sports editor

Hannah Pierce continues to capture the spotlight both on and off the golf course. The Longwood University junior was named to the 2012-2013 All-Big South Women’s Academic Team.

The King George High School alumni has a 76.77 golf scoring average including two top-five performances

out of three top-10 and five top-20 finishes. Among Pierce’s top performances were a number of low scores that include a career best 18-hole score of 72 at the East Carolina/Lady Pirate Intercollegiate, a 36-hole score of 147 (73-74) at the William & Mary/C&F/Nittany Lion Invitational (76-74-77) and at the Campbell/Fighting Camel Fall Classic (77-74-76).

Her current career average of 78.98 is ranked eighth all-time at Longwood. The psychology and criminology major (and minor in homeland security), is academically strong, with a cumulative grade point average of 3.45.

Along with the status of being one of the greatest high school golfers in the history of the Fredericksburg area, she is a two-time National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar (2011-2012) and 2012 Longwood Scholar-Athlete Award recipient.
