Xplosion fall 2009 season

There is no doubt fall has arrived.  Xplosion’s evening practices are being completed in very cool temperatures.  As the sun drops behind the trees, many of the King George players slip sweatpants over their shorts.  The cool air doesn’t slow the process of tournament preparation.  This is the kind of weather the team will face over the next seven weeks of competition.

Xplosion has completed a successful spring and summer schedule with tournament wins in both seasons.  The girls’ goal is to reach that point in the fall as well.  Rather than seeing an easing of their practice regimen, the coaches are pressing them harder then ever before.  If a mistake is made, the routine is reworked.  If a player fails to react correctly to a situation, the coach identifies the correct action and repeats the scenario.  With each replay a correct execution is reinforced.  This type of practice enables each player to strengthen any weakness while building on their strong points.
Over the coming weeks, King George Xplosion will face more experienced teams in its new 16U division.  The girls will travel, often for many hours, to compete, learn and to develop.  They will win games and lose games but they will always look to improve.
All the players hope to be part of the varsity or junior varsity teams for King George.
