Eden Estate Eels have the right stuff

After finishing fourth in the American Division of the Rappahannock Swim League last season, the Eels are hungry for redemption. Their recent win over YMCA Masaad branch is a clear indication that they have the personnel to take them all the way to the top. The YMCA Masaad won the regular season championship and finals championship last season.
In fact, with more than 90% of the team returning, the Eels could potentially be the team to beat in its division this season. The Eels are solid, with a total of 112 swimmers, ages five to 18.
The Eels coaching staff, made of up head coach Adam Taylor, assistant Katie Taylor, assistant Emily Jones and assistant Curt Albert have more than 30 years of experience combined. After being a part of numerous seasons where their former high school alma mater, King George High School, has dominated the Battlefield Division with championships, its readily apparent that the Eels coaching staff has the right stuff.
Taylor is beginning his sixth season as the Eels head coach. The Taylor family is deeply rooted in the King George swim community, with Adam’s father, Heath, on the Eels board of directors and a former Raiders swim administrator. Adam’s mother, Nancy, is the head data official for the American Division and a scoring official for King George High School.

Throughout the years, swimming at Eden Estates has become a proving ground or rite of passage for the next generation of championship high school swimmers. Every year, swimmers from around the King George area dedicate their summer to the sport of swimming, with hopes of someday making an impact on the King George High School swim team.
“Probably 90% of the high school team are kids on summer league teams,” Taylor said.
On Wednesday, June 24, the Eels travel to Lake of the Woods for their second dual meet of the season.
