CB Drifters Little League Baseball Clinic a hit

Last Saturday, Monroe Park was the scene of America’s favorite pastime at play. The Colonial Beach Drifters baseball program provided an action-packed baseball clinic for aspiring future baseball stars. Most of the kids who participated were members of the Westmoreland Little League baseball program. The combination of T-ball,

rookie pitch, minor league, and major league ball players were treated to a fun day at Monroe Park, as they learned all aspects of the game. Kids of all ages enjoyed the spirit of baseball, as they refreshed their hitting, running and field skills.

Forty-seven campers spent three hours working on six fundamental station rotations of pitching, catching, hitting, infield and outfield skills, and base running. The boys and girls also participated in the throw and catch contests and concluded the camp with the ever-popular games competition. All participants received a black and gold Drifter baseball T-shirt.

Drifter varsity baseball head coach Steve Swope, and the Drifter baseball program (junior varsity, middle school) staff coordinated, organized and supervised the event. In addition, members of the Drifter varsity baseball team and select players from the varsity softball team, junior varsity baseball team, and middle school baseball and softball teams also pitched in to serve as instructors.

The Drifter baseball coaching staff would like to wish all Westmoreland County Little League players a successful season. The season is set to open on Saturday, April 16.
