Within the first three minutes of Saturday’s rematch between Colonial Beach and Lancaster, TT Carey and Dylan Farinet added their names to the roster of Drifter basketball legends.
Carey became the second player in Drifter history to amass 2,000 points in his varsity career. He joins Lamon White [2,226 points] as the only two to reach this hallowed status. Reflecting on his recent scoring milestone, Carey, “This is something that I’ve been striving for all of my varsity career.”
Farinet knocked down a three-pointer to enter the 1,000-point club. Farinet has achieved his piece of notoriety in Drifter folklore in just two and a half years of varsity play.
After witnessing the growth of both stars from elementary school recreation basketball to their glory days as varsity players, Drifter boys’ varsity head coach Steve Swope said, “These two young men are fine athletes, students and high character people. They are the face of our program and they exemplify greatness—needless to say, I am very proud of them."
The scale of Carey and Farinet’s skills will soon be measured in the number of college recruiters knocking at their door.
On January 23, Drifter head coach Steve Swope celebrated his 30 years in coaching by defeating King & Queen.
